Neither player made a low and Ashby's ace high was good enough to win the high, sending Friets out the door.
Jason Mercier's day is done. He was eliminated by Vladimir Schmelev who was rolled up with fives and wound up making quads on sixth street. No low was available for Mercier to even gather half the pot and he was sent packing. Schmelev now has 370,000 chips.

We picked the action up on fourth street with Ashby calling a bet from Bernstein. Bernstein check-called against on fifth, then led out on sixth and seventh, Ashby calling him down.
Bernstein turned up for a wheel and scooped. He's up to 130,000.
Jason Mercier may be from Florida, but he's brought a new meaning to the phrase "Going South." Mercier had over 160,000 chips a few minutes ago and has since dusted most of those off to be left with under 20,000. He ran into a few big hands with Christopher George and George cleaned him out. It's time for a comeback for Mercier while George is cruising with over 300,000 chips.

Hoang was all in on third street. Hellmuth and Benson both checked fourth. Hellmuth led out on fifth and Benson called. Check-check on sixth street. Benson bet the river and Hellmuth called.
Hoang won the high with trip threes while Hellmuth showed for a 8-6-5-2-A low. Benson gasped aloud and admitted that he'd misread his hand before mucking, leaving Hellmuth and Hoang to split the pot.
Hoang's comeback, however, was short-lived as he busted to Benson only a few hands later.
Larry Scott Bernstein just doubled through Gary Benson, who holds a seven-card stud bracelet from back in 1996. Bernstein made a low and an eight-high straight to scoop the pot from Benson and double his stack to 78,000 chips.
Rodman brought in with his and the next player completed. George raised and then Mercier called. Rodman then reraised before the next player got out of the way, George and Mercier called. On fourth street, George bet and both his opponents called. On fifth street, George bet again, but only Mercier called this time. On sixth street, George bet and Mercier raised. George question whether or not Mercier had the and in the hole and then called. George then check-called on seventh.
Mercier tabled the and George tabled the . Mercier took the low and George the high, chopping up another big pot between the two players.
These two had gone all the way to sixth street when we happened upon the scene, Kassela check-calling a bet from Isaia. Both players checked the river.
Kassela showed for kings up and took it down. He's up to 175,000.
