Down and Down and Up

I heart triple draw...almost as much as my Full Tilt shoulder patches
I heart triple draw...almost as much as my Full Tilt shoulder patches

2-7 Triple Draw

Two more triple draw hands involving Nick Schulman to report:

In the first hand, Schulman raised out of the small blind, Mikael Thuritz three-bet from the big blind and Schulman called. Schulman drew two cards and Thuritz stood pat. Schulman check-called a bet, then drew one card while Thuritz rapped pat again. Schulman check-called another bet, then drew one again. Both players checked.

Thuritz turned over 8-7-6-5-2 and Schulman couldn't beat it, his stack sinking to 200,000.

On the next deal, Abe Mosseri raised from the cutoff, Schulman reraised from the button, Mosseri four-bet and Schulman called all in. Mosseri drew two, one and one while Schulman drew two, two and one.

Mosseri showed down 7-5-4-2-2 and Schulman had him with 8-6-5-3-2, his chip count rebounding to 410,000. Mosseri was left with 625,000.

It's All Action In PLO

Pot Limit Omaha

Vladimir Schmelev opened with a raise to 75,000 from early position with Robert Mizrachi making the call on the button. They went to a flop of {J-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{3-Spades} and Schmelev checked over to Mizrachi who moved 150,000 into the middle. Schmelev made the call.

The turn was the {7-Hearts} where it went check, check, before things got busy on the {6-Spades} river. Schmelev teased with a small bet of 100,000 before Mizrachi plonked a stack of green/orange chips into the middle to announce a raise to 500,000. Schmelev only took a moment to match the bet but mucked when Mizrachi showed {5-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for the nut straight.

A huge 1.5 million chip pot heads to Mizrachi as he climbs to a total of 2.6 million and the tournament chip lead, as Schmelev is back to 1.5 million.

Schulman Slipping

2-7 Triple Draw

Michael Mizrachi raised from the button and Nick Schulman called from the big blind. Mizrachi drew one card while Schulman drew two. Schulman check-called a bet, then drew two cards while Mizrachi rapped pat. Schulman check-called another bet, then took one card on the final draw. Both players checked.

Mizrachi showed 9-7-6-5-3 and Schulman mucked. He's down to 410,000 while Mizrachi just crossed the 2 million mark.

Alaei Accumulates

No Limit Hold'em

Daniel Alaei raised it up to 75,000 and David Oppenheim made the call in the big blind. They checked a flop of {A-Hearts}{9-Spades}{9-Diamonds} and the {J-Hearts} fell on the turn. Oppenheim checked and Alaei took a stab with a bet of 110,000. Oppenheim made the call.

The river brought the {7-Diamonds} and again it was checked through with Alaei opening {A-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for the best hand to take it down.

David Baker Doubles Through Michael Mizrachi

You just got BAKED
You just got BAKED

Pot-Limit Omaha

The poker gods giveth...and the poker gods taketh away.

Mikael Thuritz opened for 75,000 from the cutoff, David Baker potted to 261,000 from the button, Michael Mizrachi called from the small blind and Thuritz folded. Mizrachi led out for a pot-sized bet on the {K-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{2-Spades} flop and Baker re-raised all-in, getting a pretty quick call from Mizrachi.

Baker {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}
Mizrachi {K-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{J-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}

The turn was the {6-Hearts}, the river was the {8-Diamonds} and Baker's aces held up to double his stack to 2.06 million. The Grinder is down to 1.8 million.

Juanda Misses Big Draw

No Limit Hold'em

Vladimir Schmelev raised it up to 75,000 from under the gun and action folded around to John Juanda who defended his big blind with a call.

They took a flop of {4-Spades}{7-Clubs}{7-Spades} and Juanda checked to Schmelev who fired 100,000. Juanda made a quick call.

The turn brought the {6-Hearts} and action went check, check, as the {9-Diamonds} completed the board on the river. Juanda came out betting for 215,000 but Schmelev made a quick call.

Juanda opened {A-Spades}{5-Spades} for a busted straight and flush draw as Schmelev showed {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds} for the overpair and a nice pot. He's up to 2.25 million as Juanda slips back to 1.8 million.

Lyle Berman Eliminated in 12th Place ($129,957)

Lyle Berman, 12th Place
Lyle Berman, 12th Place

Pot-Limit Omaha

When it comes to suck-resucks, this is one for the books, even if it did happen in PLO.

Lyle Berman limped in from UTG. Michael Mizrachi made it 108,000 to go from the button and Berman called.

The flop was {A-Spades}{J-Spades}{6-Hearts} and Berman checked to Mizrachi, who made a pot-sized bet. Berman reraised all-in and Mizrachi called.

Mizrachi tabled {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{4-Spades} for top set while Berman revealed {7-Spades}{7-Hearts}{6-Spades}{6-Clubs} for bottom set and a flush draw. The {6-Diamonds} on the turn made Berman quad sixes, but Mizrachi spiked a one-outer on the river, the {A-Clubs} falling to make him quad aces!

Mizrachi leapt from his seat at the river card hit, his mouth agape and his hands on his head. He turned to his brother Robert, playing on the other table.

"Quads over QUADS!" Michael gasped as Robert craned his neck to get a look at the board.

Meanwhile, Berman made a calm exit in 12th place, tucking his corduroy jacket around his shoulders as he left the table.
