Team PokerStars Pros Arnaud Mattern or Team France and Veronica Dabul of Team Argentina are still going strong.
Both are currently sitting with around 31,000 and are in good position to survive Day 1A.
David Sklansky, Tom McEvoy, David "The Dragon" Pham and Brett Shreffler are some of the bigger names who have recently been eliminated.
Short stacked and facing a 1,025 raise David Pham moved all in for his remaining 5,000. He was called and showed , he was facing .
The board came , Pham's pair of jacks were no good against a straight and he was sent to the rail
Alan Smurfit, who won a bracelet in 2007 Event #33 Pot Limit Omaha with Rebuys, is currently in the field. He told our field reporter, "Just tell them Smurfits drinking and playing crazy."
Indeed, Smurfit is enjoying a rather large glass of what appears to be a fine merlot; however, if he wishes to survive the day he is going to need some cards. He is sitting with only 5,725.
Zachary Clark had been riding a short stack for the past few hours. We didn't catch the hand, but it seems like lady luck finally caught up to Clark as he is no longer at Table 5. His empty seat has already been filled after Clark made his exit late on Day 1A.
Young Phan opened to 1,200 from the cutoff and Martijn Hendrikx made the call from the big blind.
The flop came and both players checked. The turn brought a and more action. Phan led out for 1,800 and Hendrikx re-raised all in for 2,350.
"You have , don't you?" Asked Phan, he made the call anyways. Hendrikx showed his hand ,close. His cards weren't as good as his guess though. Phan had for middle pair. The river was an uneventful . Hendrikx doubled up to 7,400 and Phan was left with 5,000.
The tournament staff just announced that all tables will now be playing nine handed instead of the usual ten.
