Gavin Goes Through

Gavin Smith and Gabe Kaplan both checked a flop of {10-} {8-} {4-}, and Kaplan got the rest of his 24,000 chips all in on the {2-} turn. Smith called.

Kaplan turned up {7-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} for second pair, and he was in trouble against Gavin's {10-Hearts} {J-Diamonds}. The river {A-} failed to improve Kaplan, and he has been eliminated.

Gavin Smith has earned his first cash of this WSOP, and he's on to this evening's Round of 32.

Dee Tiller opened to 8,500 from the button and Melanie Weisner made the call from the button to see a {K-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{7-Clubs} flop fall.

Wiesner checked and Tiller fired out 12,000 to put Weisner into the tank for nearly three minutes before dropping in an assortment of chips amounting to 27,400.

Tiller instantly folded and Wiesner climbs back to 90,000 in chips.

Clements Climbs over Verspui

Scott Clements has finished off Robbie Verspui to advance to the next round.

Verspui limped king-jack from the button, and he shoved when Clements raised to 6,000. Clements called with ace-ten, and there was no help on board for Verspui, ending his tournament.

Clements is on to the money rounds.

You'll See Darren Woods Again Later, Benovski Not So Much

Darren Woods has eliminated Alexander Benovski to lock up a seat in the next round.

The crippling pot for Benovski was the one in which he paired his ace on the river of a {K-} {7-} {5-} {8-} {A-} board. Woods won a big pot when he turned over {4-} {6-} for the straight, and Benovski was left with a short stack.

A few hands later, Benovski got his remainder in with {A-Spades} {5-Spades}, only to run smack into Woods' pocket queens. A board full of blanks finished off the match and finished off Benovski's day a little earlier than he'd hoped.

Rast Takes Care of Been

Aaron Been made a bit of a misstep when he called an all in from his opponent Brian Rast. Been turned up {A-Clubs} {6-Hearts}, and Rast's {6-Spades} {6-Clubs} was poised for a double up.

The board came {10-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} {2-Spades} {4-Hearts} {8-Clubs} to hold Rast's pair, and that double up gave him an eight-to-one lead in the match.

On the next hand, Been got himself all in with the ace-rag, {A-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds}. He was racing for his survival against Rast's {7-Diamonds} {7-Hearts}, and there was a friendly eight on the flop. The river, however, was not so kind, and the board of {Q-Diamonds} {3-Spades} {8-Spades} {6-Hearts} {7-Spades} is the last Been will see today.

Rast's set of sevens pushes him through to the next round, and Aaron Been has been eliminated.
