Smith Ratchets Up the Leaderboard

Level 11 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

We found this hand going to the turn with 10,000 in the pot already. The board read {8-Clubs} {7-Spades} {J-Hearts} {7-Diamonds} and Marcelo Fonseca checked. Gavin Smith bet out 5,800, Fonseca check-raised all in for 25,700 and Smith called. The hands were tabled and Fonseca had top pair holding {Q-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds}.

However, Smith tabled {A-Spades} {A-Clubs} and needed to dodge a queen and a jack to take the hand. The river bricked for Fonseca falling {3-Spades} and chipping up Smith to 142,000.

Ainsworth Utilizes the Check Raise

On a {4-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} board we saw Belley Phillippe and Jude Ainsworth check to a waiting Darryll Fish. Fish sensing weakness put out a bet of 4,300 and received a call from Phillippe. Ainsworth's however did not simply call he raised and made it 10,000 total.

Fish contemplated for quite awhile before eventually mucking. Phillippe also tanked for a long while before he eventually convinced himself he believed Aisnworth and folded.

More Recent Eliminations

With apologies to their friends, families, and backers, here are the most recent eliminations of this brisk Day 2.

The King and the Axe For Tran

Level 11 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

On the turn, the board showed {7-Clubs} {2-Diamonds} {K-Clubs} {3-Clubs}, and Kostantinos Segounis checked to J.C. Tran. Tran made a bet of 12,000 into a pot of more than 15,000, and Segounis check-raised all in for about 24,000 total. When the call came, Segounis' {A-Clubs} {K-Spades} was trailing the {K-Hearts} {7-Hearts} of Tran, and the river {10-Spades} means we've lost another player here in the early going.

Tran is up to 83,000 with that knockout.

Declaring a Truche

Level 11 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

We picked up the action on a {Q-Hearts} {10-Hearts} {8-Spades} flop as the action was on Leonard Truche. He checked, and Scott Divita bet 4,000 as the only other player in the pot. Truche responded with a check-raise all in over the top, and Divita made the call with {K-Diamonds} {Q-Spades} for his last ~17,000. Truche was on the draw with the {4-Hearts} {6-Hearts}, and the turn {4-Spades} gave him another few outs to chase down.

The river was the {A-Hearts}, and the flush comes for Truche. With it comes the elimination of Divita, and Truche climbs up to 84,000 or so.

Stelmak Makes Hero Call

We found this hand on the river with at least a 20,000 pot. The board was {7-Clubs} {7-Diamonds} {2-Clubs} {A-Spades} {J-Hearts} and Narendra Banwari was all in for around 30,000. Dmitry Stelmak was deep in thought contemplating the call. After a short tank Stelmak called and tabled {4-Spades} {4-Hearts}.

The pocket fours were good enough because Banwari mucked his cards, collected his things and made his way to the rail.
