Mizzi Flush With Chips

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

Flop: {5-Spades}{a-Diamonds}{4-Spades}

Fred Goldberg led for 2,500, Sorel Mizzi called, and the turn was the {6-Diamonds}. Goldberg slowed down, checking to Mizzi who tossed out 4,700. Goldberg called.

The river was the {2-Spades}. Goldberg checked again, and Mizzi fired 15,000. Goldberg went deep into the tank, eventually making the call. Mizzi tabled {k-Spades}{10-Spades} for a king-high flush, Goldberg mucked, and Mizzi dragged in the pot.

Delaporte With Big Time Double

With the board reading {J-Spades}{6-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{4-Spades}, Guilhem Delaporte moved all in after it looked like he was faced with a bet or raise of 45,000 from the player in the big blind. The big blind called and Delaporte revealed {K-Spades}{K-Hearts} for top boat. Since it was an all in, the big blind had to show and flipped over {5-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for trips on the river that were no good. After the 45,000s were pulled in for each, the big blind paid Delaporte the 56,200 he owed for massive double up.

Fricke Finished

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

Jimmy Fricke was facing a decision preflop for his remaining 40,300 chips. After tanking for a few minutes he made the call to put his tournament life at risk.

Fricke: {a-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}
Opponent: {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}

The board ran out {10-Clubs}{8-Spades}{k-Spades}{5-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} and Fricke will have to wait until next year to win the big one.

Rahme Gets Rivered

We caught up with the action on a board reading {8-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{3-Spades} to see a player bet 5,000 into a pot of about 9,000. Rahme made the call and the {A-Diamonds} fell on the river.

Rahme checked and his opponent quickly checked behind, flipping up {A-Hearts}{10-Spades}. Rahme shook his head at the pair of aces that his opponent caught on the river. He mucked his cards with a look of pain on his face, as his opponent dragged in the pot.

Carson Doubles

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante

Duane Wellnitz opened to 1,700 from the cutoff, Russell Carson called on the button, and the flop fell {8-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}{9-Clubs}. Both players checked.

The {8-Hearts} turned, pairing the board, and Wellnitz led for 3,700. Carson called.

The river was the {a-Spades}, and Wellnitz led out. Carson moved all in for about 20,000, and Wellnitz tank-called. Carson revealed {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs} for aces full of eights, and Wellnitz flashed {j-}{8-} before mucking.

Carson won the hand, doubling to well over 50,000 chips.

Blanchard Gone

Action folded to short-stacked DJ Blanchard on the button. He moved all in for 5,100. Dana Kellstrom made the call from the small blind and the big blind folded. What's interesting is that both of these player's made the final table of the $10,000 WSOP Circuit Regional Championship in Rincon and now found themselves pitted against each other once again.

Blanchard held the {8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} and Kellstrom the {A-Diamonds}{8-Spades}. The flop, turn and river ran out {K-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{6-Hearts} and Blanchard hit the rail.

Obrestad Surrenders

Over on table 293, the action folded around to the player in the cutoff who raised to 1,800 preflop; Annette Obrestad called from the button and so it was heads-up to the flop of {J-Clubs}{A-Spades}{6-Spades}, which they both checked.

On the turn of the {8-Spades}, the cutoff bet 2,300 and again, Obrestad called, then both players checked down the river {Q-Diamonds}. The cutoff showed {K-}{J-} for a pair of jacks, which was best against Obrestad, who could only rustle up a smaller pair with her {10-}{8-}.
