Scotty Nguyen after winning the Poker Player's Championship in 2008.
The 2008 Poker Player’s Championship was one of the most memorable in recent history with a final table that included Huck Seed, Barry Greenstein, Erick Lindgren, Mike DeMichele and Scotty Nguyen.
Nguyen, who won the World Series of Poker Main Event back in 1998, ended up topping the 148-player field to capture the $1,989,120 first-place prize.
After the break a new table was created with late entrants Patrik Antonius and Jon Turner. The other players got moved from their tables and this is what Table 350 now looks like.
We are very close to hitting triple digits in this event as John Hanson just entered as the 99th player.
John Hanson's last live tournament cash dates back to the 2009 World Series of Poker when he finished second in the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. behind David Bach. Hanson is known as a high stakes cash game player and one of the two other cashes he has at the WSOP is also in the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. back in 2007.
Michael Binger min-raised to 1,000 under the gun and was immediately met with a three-bet to 1,500 from Rami Boukai. After "Downtown" Chad Brown and Hasan Habib called from the button and big blind respectively, Binger called and it was four-way action to the flop.
It went check-check to Boukai, and he tossed out 1,500, which only Brown and Binger called. When it went check-check to Brown on the turn, he made it 6,000 to go and only Binger made the call, though he spent a considerable amount of time contemplating before doing so.
From there, both players checked the river and Binger announced, "Ace." However, before he could tabled his cards, Brown revealed for aces and kings.
From the hijack seat, Cary Katz raised. Matt Glantz called from the big blind and the flop came down . Glantz checked and Katz checked behind.
The turn paired the board with the . Glantz bet and Katz made the call. The river completed the board with the and Glantz bet. Katz folded and Glantz won the pot.
We didn't catch all the action, but we did see John Hennigan just take down half a 25,000 pot with quads. His up cards showed , and the table awed upon seeing his down cards . . . .
Unfortunately for Hennigan, he only got half as Gus Hansen had a low. Even so, they chopped up Justin Bonomo's money and increased their respective stacks.
