Duhamel Loses a Few

When we arrived at Table 37, Francesco Favia and Jonathan Duhamel were deeply involved in a hand. At this point there was a board showing {7-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{5-Spades} and Duhamel led out for 5,750. Favia was deep in the tank deciding what to do, eventually opting to make the call.

When a {9-Clubs} landed on the river, Duhamel slowly checked and his opponent quickly checked behind. Duhamel turned over his {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}, which would be sent sliding into the muck at the sight of Favia's {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}. Despite losing this hand, Duhamel still has plenty of chips.

Hall Scoops a Huge Pot

Galen Hall
Galen Hall

We caught up with the action in a three-handed pot on a {2-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{8-Diamonds} flop. Several thousand chips were already in the pot from the preflop action.

Terrence Chan checked from early position and his opponent in middle position fired 6,100 into the middle. Galen Hall quickly called from the hijack seat and Chan made the call as well.

The turn brought the {10-Hearts} and Chan checked again, prompting a 13,625 bet from the player in middle position. Hall immediately moved all in for 23,275 on top and Chan folded.

Hall's remaining opponent fell deep into the tank.

"Wowwwwww," he said.

After rocking back and forth and deliberating for a few minutes, he reluctantly committed his last 23,000. Hall flipped over {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds} for top set and his opponent tabled {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades} for an overpair.

The {4-Clubs} river bricked for Hall's opponent and he was sent to the rail.

Hall is up to 110,000 after that one.

Parker Gifted Chips

We aren't exactly sure how the action went, but what we do know is that it seems like Brock Parker was just gifted a huge amount of chips. When we arrived at the table there was a {9-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} and Parker had {10-Spades}{10-Diamonds}, while his all-in opponent had {j-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} out in front of him. The player was all in for over 20,000 and apparently was caught bluffing on the flop. Parker's opponent was screaming for an eight (giving him the straight), but the {k-Spades} on the turn and the {2-Clubs} on the river were not what he was looking for. Humble in defeat, the player shook Parker's hand and Parker continued stacking his new chips.

Negreanu Out

Daniel Negreanu, who had been nursing a short stack for some time, has been eliminated.

In the first hand that crippled him, Negreanu opened to 1,000 from middle position and action folded around to the player on the button, who went all in for 8,650. It was folded back to Negreanu, who tanked and thought his decision through, as he normally does, out loud.

"I just don't believe you," Negreanu said. "The problem is I don't have much either."

"Ehh, I gotta go with my gut," Negreanu said as he committed calling chips.

Negreanu: {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}
Opponent: {3-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}

"Ha, I knew you didn't have a super strong hand."

Unfortunately for Negreanu, the board ran out {A-Spades}{3-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} - leaving his opponent with treys-full of jacks and knocking Negreanu down to his last 500.

On the very next hand, a player in early position raised and Negreanu called all in for less directly behind him. Everyone else got out of the way and hands were revealed.

Negreanu: {A-Clubs}{6-Spades}
Opponent: {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}

The {10-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{4-Spades}{J-Hearts} board sealed the deal for Negreanu and he was sent to the rail.

Opposite Ends of the Scale

While Jason Senti has well under the average chip stack (currently 30,895), Freddy Deeb has almost double the average. We recently watched the two players take part in a hand on their respective tables.

  • We arrived at Senti's table with a flop showing {q-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{a-Hearts} and Senti involved in the pot with two opponents. One player checked behind Senti and then Senti bet 1,725. The player next to act folded and then Senti was check-raised to 3,800. Senti tanked before letting his hand go.
  • The action on Deeb's table started with a raise to 1,450 from early position. Deeb called out of the small blind and then both players checked the {6-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{8-Spades} flop. On the {4-Clubs} turn, Deeb led out for 3,000 and his opponent folded, sending the pot to Deeb.

Williams On the Rise

We caught up with the action on a {J-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{3-Spades} flop, where David Williams was in a a heads-up pot against an opponent. Williams had called a check raise from his opponent in the small blind, but the dealer scooped the chips into the middle before we could get the amounts.

Both players checked the {9-Diamonds} turn, however, when Williams' opponent checked again on the {8-Spades} river, Williams fired 4,000 into the middle. His opponent thought it over and mucked.

Williams has been putting in some work this level and is currently sitting on 90,000.
