Voulgaris Gets Gruissem to Fold

Philipp Gruissem raised it up under the gun to 185,000 and Haralabos Voulgaris called from the big blind.

The flop came down {K-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{J-Spades} and Gruissem called Voulgaris' 550,000 bet. The turn was the {2-Hearts} and both players checked.

The river was the {Q-Clubs} and Voulgaris put out another 600,000-chip bet. Gruissem folded and Voulgaris mucked his hand.

Hellmuth Takes Some From Rast

From the small blind Brian Rast just raised it up to 220,000 and Phil Hellmuth defended his big blind.

The flop came down {Q-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{9-Spades} and both players checked. The turn was the {4-Clubs} and Rast bet 239,000. Hellmuth raised it up to 500,000 and Rast called.

The river was the {7-Hearts} and both players checked.

Hellmuth turned over {9-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}, for two pair, and took down this pot.

Down to 24; Marchese Busts Lamb in Huge Pot

Tom Marchese raised it up to 160,000 under the gun and Ben Lamb called in middle position.

The flop came down {J-Clubs}{4-Spades}{6-Clubs} and Marchese checked to Lamb who fired out 220,000. Marchese raised it up to 720,000 and it was back on Lamb. The 2011 WSOP Player of the Year decided to three-bet to 1,370,000 and now Marchese had a big decision.

Marchese gave it some thought and put out a four-bet to 2,070,000. A raising war was in full effect and Lamb pulled the trigger, he moved all in for 4,700,000 and Marchese made the call.

Marchese showed {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} and he needed to dodge some cards, since Lamb showed {8-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for a gut-shot straight and flush draw. The turn was the {2-Diamonds} and the river the {7-Diamonds} eliminating Lamb in 25th place.

Esfandiari Gets There

From the button Antonio Esfandiari raised it up to 180,000 and Mikhail Smirnov put in a three-bet to 600,000 from the small blind. Jason Mercier gave up his big blind, and Esfandiari called.

The flop came down {2-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{A-Clubs} and Smirnov bet 225,000, Esfandiari called. The turn was the {4-Hearts} and Smirnov fired out 400,000. Esfandiari called once more, and the river was the {5-Hearts}.

Smirnov checked the river and Esfandiari threw out a big 975,000 chip bet. Smirnov made the call after some tanking and Esfandiari showed {3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} for a rivered straight. Esfandiari is back out in front after winning this pot.

Rast vs. Hellmuth

From middle position, David Einhorn raised to 180,000. Brian Rast called on the button and Phil Hellmuth called from the small blind. The dealer then ran out the {Q-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{5-Clubs} flop and Hellmuth led for 250,000. Einhorn folded and Rast called.

The turn was the {J-Hearts} and Hellmuth checked. Rast bet 600,000 and Hellmuth called to see the river.

The {A-Diamonds} completed the board after Hellmuth had checked in the dark. Rast checked behind.

Hellmuth mucked after Rast showed the {Q-Spades}{10-Clubs} for a pair of queens. Rast won and moved to 10.9 million.
