Mandel Bubbles Event #2

Level 15 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

After anteing, Lloyd Mandel was forced to go all in for his last 2,000 from the big blind. The action folded to Sam Stein, who called with {q-Spades}{10-Hearts}, but Mandel didn't show his hand until the action on the other tables was finished.

Finally, when it was time, he showed {3-Spades}{2-Spades}.

Mandel was drawing live, but the {k-Spades}{10-Clubs}{j-Clubs} flop put him in bad shape. It was all over when the {6-Clubs} turned, and a meaningless {j-Spades} completed the board.

The remaining 56 players are all in the money, and there are now on a 20-minute break.

Bubble Pushups

Level 15 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

To pass the time on the bubble, David "Doc" Sands and Kyle Julius just starting pushups. After one set, Julius turned to see Steve Brecher doing them as well!

"Yes!!!" Julius yelled excitedly.

The two shared a laugh, as did the rail and the other players in the area.

Queens vs. Jacks

Level 15 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Kristijonas Andrulis opened to 5,500 from under the gun, Jeremy Ausmus three-bet to 13,500 from the cutoff, and Chris DeMaci cold four-bet to 29,200 in the small blind. Andrulis folded, and Ausmus tank-called.

The dealer fanned {a-Spades}{5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}, both players checked, and the turn brought the {2-Spades}. DeMaci checked again, Ausmus fired out 20,000, and DeMaci called.

The {10-Hearts} completed the board, the two checked again, and Ausmus showed {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} for a pair of queens. DeMaci showed to jacks, then mucked his hand.

Level 15 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Joe Serock
Joe Serock

On the third hand of hand-for-hand play, Joe Serock raised to 5,300 from under the gun, Matthew Parry three-bet to 13,000 on his direct left, and the action folded back to Serock, who called.

The flop fell {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}{6-Diamonds}, Serock checked, and Parry continued for 16,000. Serock made the call, then checked again when the {7-Diamonds} turned. Parry fired another 27,000, and Serock called.

The prettiest card in the deck - the {a-Spades} - completed the board, and Serock checked a third time. Parry opted ro check behind, showing {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for a bricked straight flush draw. Serock opened up {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for trip aces, and raked in the pot.

Esfandiari Busts Hellmuth Short of the Money

Level 15 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Phil Hellmuth - Eliminated
Phil Hellmuth - Eliminated

Antonio Esfandiari opened to 5,000 on the button, and Phil Hellmuth called in the big blind, only leaving a few thousand behind. The flop fell {q-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}, Hellmuth shoved, and being pot committed, Esfandiari called.

Esfandiari: {10-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Hellmuth: {5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}

Esfandiari only had ten-high, but it held up when the turn and river bricked {k-Hearts}, {8-Clubs} respectively. Hellmuth finished just short of the money, while Esfandiari has 50,000 chips.

Gonsalves With a Huge Double

Level 15 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

After a series of bets and raises, Markus Gonsalves was all in and at risk for 106,100 preflop with {a-Hearts}{a-Spades}. Tom Marchese had him at risk, but was dominated with {a-Clubs}{10-Spades}.

The board came {2-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{7-Clubs}, and Gonsalves doubled.

Greenstein Gone

Level 15 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Barry Greenstein busts
Barry Greenstein busts

Barry Greenstein open-shoved for roughly 10 big blinds on the button, and Trevor Pope snap-called in the big blind.

Greenstein: {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}
Pope: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

"Good luck, Barry," Pope offered, kindly.

Greenstein could only shrug.

The window card was a nine, but it was accompanied by two eights: {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}{9-Clubs}. Greenstein would need to catch another nine or running straight cards, and the {j-Clubs} on the turn kept the latter draw alive. Unfortunately for Greenstein the {4-Hearts} bricked off on the river, and he was eliminated.

Pope now has roughly 300,000 chips.
