Event #35: $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha

Day 1 Started

Plenty of Extras Being Given Away At This Year's WSOP

Level 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

The buzz inside the walls of the Rio extends beyond just the tournaments on the 2013 World Series of Poker schedule. Online poker in Nevada is a very, very hot topic right now, and WSOP.com is making a lot of noise.

While the site has yet to launch, you can head to the Lambada Room of the Rio or look for one of the beautiful and friendly WSOP.com ladies walking the hallways to sign up for a free, personal WSOP.com online poker account. This is a great way to get a jump on the site's registration, and plenty of people have already taken this opportunity.

What's more is that the WSOP will be hosting daily raffles for everyone that has taken the time to register for WSOP.com at the Rio. What can you win? Plenty of fantastic prizes including 36 WSOP seats!

Players 21 years of age and older who sign up for a WSOP.com account will automatically be entered into the “36-Seat Giveaway” where a randomly-selected winner will win a seat into the next day’s first WSOP gold bracelet event. One of the events eligible in this promotion is the $111,111 One Drop High Roller No-Limit Hold’em tournament that is expected to feature a $10,000,000 prize pool and allow you to play poker with the biggest names in the game. In total, $182,333 in WSOP seats, including a seat to the WSOP Main Event, are being given away during this one-of-a-kind WSOP.com promotion.

In addition to the 36-Seat Giveaway, a “Hot Seat” promotion will allow any player who signs up for a WSOP.com online account and wears their WSOP.com patch on their chest at the table while playing an event to be randomly selected to receive 500 bonus dollars deposited directly into their WSOP.com online account once the site has received all regulatory approvals and launches.

With 62 WSOP gold bracelet events and three winners promised for the Main Event, this promotion includes $32,000 worth of value to those participating.

Welcome to Day 1 of the $3,000 Buy-in Pot Limit Omaha Event

Bracelet Winner Austin Scott
Bracelet Winner Austin Scott

As the title says, welcome to PokerNews' coverage of Event #35 of the 2013 World Series of Poker, the $3,000 buy-in Pot Limit Omaha tournament.

Last year's $3,000 Pot Limit Omaha event attracted 589 runners, who created a prize pool of $1,607,970. The lion's share of that prize pool, $361,797 of it to be exactly, found its way into the bank account of Austin Scott, his reward for becoming a WSOP champion.

We would expect Scott to buy into this event in an attempt to defend his title — he finished eighth in the same event in 2011 — along with a plenty of poker's biggest names and most recognizable faces; as soon as we see them buy in, we will relay that information to you.

Event #35 is due to commence at 17:00 local time and will continue until eight 60-minute levels are completed. There will be a 15-minute break at the end of the second and sixth level, with a 30-minute break at the end of the fourth level.

Join the PokerNews Live Reporting team from 17:00 as we bring you all of the action, as it happens, from the $3,000 Pot Limit Omaha event. Until then, why not read how last year's tournament went down and be sure to check out Kristy Arnett's July 19 update.

Cards in the Air

Level 1 : 25/50, 0 ante

The cards are in the air for Event #35: $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha, but before we get to the coverage, we have to explain some of the rules. This is a triple chance event, meaning that each player receives a 3,000-chip stack plus two add-on chips. Players can cash in their lammers whenever they choose to.

When we report a chip count, we will include the lammers in the number. If the chip count is included in a post, we will let you know if the player has used their lammers or not.

Senti Flops a Monster; Bricks Out

Level 1 : 25/50, 0 ante

We've spotted 2010 November Niner Jason Senti in the field today, and he's already lost his first lammer. We unfortunately missed the action, but when we arrived the hands were opened and the board was finished.

Senti: {7-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{2-Hearts}
Opponent: {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}{j-Clubs}{10-Hearts}

Board: {7-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{2-Spades}

Senti flopped a monster draw, and although the {a-Clubs} gave his opponent a set, it gave Senti extra outs to make a straight. The river was a brick, however, and his opponent doubled.

Alioto in the Hunt For Bracelet #2

Level 1 : 25/50, 0 ante

Italy's Dario Alioto has taken his seat here in the $3,000 Pot Limit Omaha event and that is bad news for anyone sat at his table. The reason for that stormy forecast is because Alioto is an absolute beast when it comes t Pot Limit Omaha.

Among his PLO achievements are an outright win at the 2009 WSOP-Europe £5,000 Pot Limit Omaha event, two wins in PLO side events on the European Poker Tour, and 17 more final table appearances in PLO events; including four at the WSOP! We will endeavor to keep our eye on him throughout this event.
