Event #9: $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em Shootout
Day 1 Started
In last year's Event #36: $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em Shootout, Craig McCorkell bested a field of 587 players and took down a WSOP bracelet along with $368,593 after three days. Action is just on the horizon for today's Event #9: $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em Shootout and it is expected that the numbers will be similar for the event.
The event has a 2,000 player cap once again this year, but there are still plenty of seats available. The goal for the player's in today's shootout event is simple; Win your table. Win your table and you make the money. Once every table has reached a winner, players will move on to day two, where they will have to win a second table to advance again.
Players will start with 9,000 chips and the blinds at 25-50 and cards will be in the air in just about 15 minutes so make sure you stay tuned in for updates from the entire day.
WSOP TD Jack Effel has made the early morning announcements and cards are now in the air.
According to Effel 60 players will come back tomorrow to play at 10, six-handed tables, and down once again to a 10-handed final table.

It's still early and some players are filling in, but we've already seen quite a few tough table draws. At one table we have David "Doc" Sands, Humberto Brenes, and Cherish Andrews (who happens to be sporting a new Team Ivey Pro Patch).
In the bronze section we have arguably the toughest table though. That table contains Jason Mercier, Dario Minieri, Tony Gargano, Kevin Saul, Darren Elias, and Matt Berkey. Mercier didn't seem to pleased about his table and he tweeted this:
My table draws have been fairly outrageous so far this wsop. 6 handed in the 3k shootout Atm, tony gargano, Dario, Kevin Saul, Elias, BerkeyFollow @JasonMercier
One good thing about having tough tables where I play against alot of ppl I know... Is Not being forced to where headphones. #wsopogsFollow @JasonMercier

We were walking through gold section when we saw Matt Glantz take his seat. He sat down at a rather tough table as well.
