Chirp Chipping Up

Level 5 : 100/200, 25 ante
Event 13 Champion Paul Volpe
Event 13 Champion Paul Volpe

The action folded to Paul Volpe, winner of the $10,000 No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw Championship, and he raised to 525 from the small blind. Johnny "World" Hennigan defended his big blind, and the flop fell {j-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{2-Clubs}. Volpe led out for 700, Hennigan raised to 1,600 and Volpe called.

The turn was the {4-Clubs}, Volpe check-called a bet of 3,100 and the river was the {a-Diamonds}. Volpe check-called one last bet - this one was worth 5,500 - and Hennigan turned over {k-Hearts}{j-Spades} for a pair of jacks.

Volpe revealed {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs} for a rivered pair of aces and was awarded the pot.

Dunst Climbing Back

Level 5 : 100/200, 25 ante

Justin Bonomo, Tony Dunst and a third player took a flop of {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{j-Hearts}. The action checked to the player on the button, who tossed out 1,525. Only Dunst called.

The turn was the {7-Spades}, both players checked and the {a-Hearts} completed the board. Dunst checked, his opponent bet 2,275 and the host of the WPT's Raw Deal check-raised all in.

The player tanked for a considerable amount of time, then folded.

Jamers Getting to Paur

Level 5 : 100/200, 25 ante
Taylor Paur at the $3,000 buy-in shootout final table
Taylor Paur at the $3,000 buy-in shootout final table

Todd Terry was first to act, and raised to 500. The action folded to Taylor Paur, who announced "reraise" aloud, and tossed out 1,350. Terry called.

The flop fell {3-Spades}{a-Clubs}{6-Spades}.

"Bet," Paur announced, flicking another 1,250 forward.

"He's announcing his bets now," Jamie "pokerjamers" Armstrong said, grinning.

Terry called, the turn was the {2-Hearts}, and Paur said, "check."

"Twenty-eight," Terry said.

Paur announced a fold, pushed his cards forward, and Terry dragged the pot.

"I had ace-ten," Armstrong said.

"Me too," Terry responded, showing {a-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}. "What did you have? Kings?"

Paur didn't respond.

"Always an ace," Armstrong needled.

Paur, who is good friends with Armstrong, threw his arms up.

"I can't concentrate with Jamie here!" he said.

Hamby Hits an Ace

Level 5 : 100/200, 25 ante

After a series of preflop bets and raises, Jared Hamby was all in and at risk for 20,800 holding {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts}. Unfortunately for him, he was crushed by an opponent's {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}.

The {3-Spades}{j-Clubs}{5-Clubs} flop have Hamby two backdoor draws, and the turn was the prettiest card in the deck - the {a-Spades} - giving Hamby a leading pair of aces. The {2-Clubs} bricked off on the river, and the 2013 WSOP bracelet winner doubled to 42,000 chips.
