Margereson Wins Some, McConnon Loses Some

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Scott Margereson was involved in a three-way pot with Steven van Zadelhoff and another player. When the flop came down {Q-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{4-Hearts} it checked to Margereson and he bet out 3,400. Both his opponents folded and the pot was shoved in his direction.

On another table, it was Jason Mcconnon who three-bet preflop and continued on the {5-Spades}{8-Clubs}{7-Hearts} flop. He slowed down and check-folded on the {J-Clubs} turn.

Ferguson Takes Down Three-Bet Pot

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Small blind Chris Ferguson three-bet over a button-raise and his left-hand opponent cold called while the initial aggressor folded. Ferguson fired 7,100 when the {10-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{8-Spades} landed and received one more call before the {J-Hearts} turn and {6-Spades} river were checked down. Ferguson's {Q-Clubs}{10-Hearts} beat {7-}{7-} and the reigning WSOP Player of the Year collected the pot.

Berkey Binks the River, Gets Paid

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

A pot with roughly 34,000 in the middle and a board reading {6-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} lay in front of Matt Berkey and his heads-up opponent.

Berkey's opponent bet 21,000 and after a moment, Berkey raised to 72,000. A couple moments went by before his opponent made the call and Berkey tabled the {7-Spades}{5-Clubs}, making a straight on the river to take the pot.

Kruk Doubles Through Hamati

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

On the four-way turn of {J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}, George Hamati bet 35,000 and Christopher Kruk was the only caller, while Kory Kilpatrick and another player sent their cards into the muck.

When the {10-Hearts} appeared on the river, Hamati asked Kruk how many chips he had behind, and once he had a look at it, moved all in. Kruk was talking through all possible hand combinations and eventually called for his last 61,200.

Hamati turned over {Q-Spades}{9-Spades} for a straight and Kruk had that beat with {J-Spades}{8-Spades} for a full house.

Darren Elias
Darren Elias

Darren Elias and Ben Yu have been seated at the same table since the start of the day and they were bound to find themselves in a pot together at some point. On a flop reading {10-Clubs}{3-Spades}{3-Diamonds}, Yu checked from the big blind and Elias tossed in a bet of 5,200 from late position. Yu called and the {8-Hearts} landed on the turn.

Yu checked again and Elias continued to bet, this time for 14,000. Yu called again and checked on the {9-Hearts} river as well. Elias pushed in a bet of 36,000 and Yu paid him off. Elias flipped over {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} and Yu was unable to beat it as he sent his cards to the muck.

Degiulio Cracks Perry's Aces

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Sean Perry had been using his large chip stack to bully around the table, and his opponent started to become non-believers. Perry opened again from middle position and this time Paul Degiulio was the one to defend his big blind.

The flop came {k-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{5-Hearts} and Degiulio checked to Perry who continued for 3,200. Degiulio check-raised to 17,000 and Perry made the call. The turn brought the {7-Clubs} and Degiulio moved all in for 55,200 which was snap-called by Perry.

Degiulio turned over {k-Spades}{7-Diamonds} for two pair and Perry tabled {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}. The {10-Hearts} on the river was safe for Degiulio as he earned a full double up at the hands of Perry.

"I didn't think you were that strong," Degiulio said from across the table. "It's hard to believe you have a hand."

"Sometimes you wake up with a hand," Perry replied as he pushed chips across the table.

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

Deric Williams raised to 2,700 from under the gun and was called by Artem Metalidi in the cutoff, Luigi Knoppers, on the button, and the player in the small blind.

The flop came {5-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{5-Spades}, the small blind checked, Williams bet 8,100. Metalidi folded with some reluctance. Knopped called after a few seconds and the small blind folded.

The turn brought them the {8-Diamonds} and Williams bet 26,000. Knoppers considered it for a while but opted to fold.

Daniels Among the Big Stacks

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 100 ante

"They keep giving it to me," Shawn Daniels shrugged and John Choi in the one seat nodded with the words "Yeah, I did." Choi still sits on a comfortable stack, though, while Daniels is now the undisputed big stack on their table ahead of Brian Borne.
