Christensen Gets Value

Level 40 : 1,250,000/2,500,000, 2,500,000 ante

Dylan Lask opened to 6,300,000 from the cutoff and Morten Christensen called in the blinds.

The flop fell {2-Spades}{8-Spades}{7-Clubs} and went check-check. On the turn {a-Hearts}, Christensen check-called a bet for 5,300,000.

The river fell a {8-Clubs} and Christensen fired 17,000,000. "I think King high is good" said Lask before tanking for some time. He eventually called with {k-Spades}{9-Diamonds} but only to see {6-Hearts}{8-Hearts} in Christensen's hand for a set of eights.

Fitzgerald Misses Out on Final Two Tables

Level 40 : 1,250,000/2,500,000, 2,500,000 ante
Christopher Fitzgerald
Christopher Fitzgerald

Short-stack Christopher Fitzgerald, down to just a little over four big blinds, had been taking his time in the previous hands with the big payjump looming between 19th and 18th place. However, from under the gun with {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}, he went for it and found a caller in big blind Andrei Konopelko with {a-Spades}{9-Spades}.

Konopelko spiked a fortuitous flop with {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}, albeit Fitzgerald was still drawing very live with his nut flush draw and overcard. Neither the {5-Spades} turn nor {4-Spades} river helped him, though, ending his bid in 19th place.

The remaining eighteen players moved to the two outer feature stages in the Thunderdome and did a redraw for the final two tables.

Chow Doubles Through Christensen

Level 40 : 1,250,000/2,500,000, 2,500,000 ante
Nicholas Chow
Nicholas Chow

Nicholas Chow went all in under-the-gun and was called by Morten Christensen in middle position. The remaining players folded and the players tabled their hands.

Nicholas Chow: {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}
Morten Christensen: {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}

The board of {j-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{9-Spades}{6-Hearts} was a safe one for Chow, who happily scooped the pot.

Veiga Bombs the River

Level 40 : 1,250,000/2,500,000, 2,500,000 ante
Diogo Veiga
Diogo Veiga

In one of the first hands after the redraw, Diogo Veiga saw a flop with Andrei Konopelko. On an {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}{7-Hearts} flop, Konopelko check-called 7,000,000 from the bracelet winner before the {k-Diamonds} turn got checked through.

On the {j-Clubs} river, Konopelko bet 16,500,000, Veiga raised what appeared to be small, but Konopelko quickly waved the white flag regardless.

Directly after, Konopelko was in the small blind and bet 6,000,000 on a {q-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{7-Clubs} flop. Rafi Elharar raised to 17,000,000 and once again, the Belarusian winged his cards into the muck.

Ehrenberger Doubles on Konopelko

Level 40 : 1,250,000/2,500,000, 2,500,000 ante

Andrei Konopelko opened to 6,000,000 and Rafi Elharar raised on the button. Danny Ehrenberger moved all in from the blinds for around 32,000,000 and Konopelko called while Elharar folded.

With {a-Spades}{q-Hearts} for Ehrenberger versus {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs} for Konopelko, he was in good shape to double up, which he did after a board {10-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{4-Spades}.
