Team Hawkins Eliminated Too

Level 4 : 100/300, 300 ante

Maurice Hawkins lost a big hand earlier today with {a-}{k-} versus the {7-}{6-} of his opponent when it all went in on the {k-}{7-}{6-} rainbow flop. Hawkins had his opponent covered though. Hawkins chipped back up but shortly after Catherine Dever lost the remainder of their stack with {a-}{8-} when she shoved it in after a raise by the player who held {a-}{k-}. No help on the board as Team Hawkins was eliminated.

Team Thibodaux Busts Team Tamayo

Level 4 : 100/300, 300 ante

Team Thibodaux eliminated Team Tamayo earlier and they were kind enough to relay what had happened:

Joe McKeehen raised from under the gun, another player three-bet, and Joshua Thibodaux four-bet from the big blind with {8-}{8-}. The flop came {8-}{q-}{x-}, Thibodaux continued with a bet and McKeehen called.

The turn was no ace nor king, Thibodaux bet just over half the pot and McKeehen called again.

The river completed the flush and straight draw. Thibodaux now checked and McKeehen shoved which Thibodaux snap-called with the set of eights. McKeehen never showed his cards and was eliminated.

Jeopardy's Holzhauer Tags In

Level 3 : 100/200, 200 ante
James Holzhauer
James Holzhauer

James Holzhauer is part of Team Sexton with Mike Sexton and has just tagged in. The professional sports gambler is probably known by most Americans for his amazing Jeopardy run of 32 wins.

Holzhauer used to be a semi-professional online poker player but has admitted that he hasn't played in eight years. Sexton contacted Holzhauer and offered to buy him in for the $1,500 Bounty and to team up for this event. Holzhauer has pledged to donate 50% of his winnings to Project 150 which serves the needs of more than 6,300 homeless, displaces, and disadvantaged high school students at almost 80 high schools in Nevada.

Defending Champion Team

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

Nikita Luther and Aditya Sushant have teamed up this year. Luther won last year with Guiseppe Pantaleo while Sushant won this event in 2017 with Nipun Java.

Team Gerrits Going Well

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

Team Gerrits is off to a great start, having eliminated two other teams already including Team Lahmani.

Team Lahmani raised from the button and the player in the small blind three-bet. Martijn Gerrits called in the big blind and Team Lahmani shoved. The small blind got out of their way and Gerrits made the call with {q-}{q-} while Team Lahmani held {k-}{q-}.

No help on the board for Team Lahmani as Gerrits held to eliminate them during the second level of the day.
