Song Wins Big With Jacks

Level 16 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante
Kevin Song
Kevin Song

Kevin Song was down to his last 50,000 a few hands ago but has climbed back up to around 200,000 after taking a big pot off Yuri Dzivielevski.

Song raised from early position and called when Dzivielevski three-bet from the small blind. Dzivielevski led out on the {5-Spades}{10-Clubs}{7-Spades} board and Song called.

Dzivielevski slowed down and checked the {8-Diamonds} turn, then called when Song bet. Song bet the {q-Diamonds} river, and again Dzivielevski put in the chips to call.

Song turned over {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs} and Dzivielevski mucked.

Chung's Turn to Double

Level 16 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante
Christopher Chung
Christopher Chung

Brian Rast raised pre-flop before Christopher Chung shoved his short-stack into the middle. "Are you going to fold?," he asked Rast.

"I was thinking about it," Rast replied as he put in the chips to call. "You're in great shape."

Chung had Rast dominated with {a-Diamonds}{10-Hearts} against {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} and ended up hitting trip aces on a board of {8-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{a-Hearts} to secure the double up.

Dehkarghani Takes a Pair From Chan

Level 16 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante

In quick succession, Ray Dehkharghani dragged two pots at the expense of Terrence Chan.

First, on a board of {10-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{10-Hearts}, Dehkharghani raised Chan's bet from the small blind in his big blind. Chan called to see that Dehkharghani had rivered a flush with {q-Hearts}{8-Hearts}.

Then Chan raised in the cutoff and was three-bet on the button by Dehkhraghani. Chan called.

Chan check-called a bet on the {2-Clubs}{3-Spades}{6-Diamonds} flop before action was checked through on the turn {k-Diamonds} and river {k-Spades}.

Dehkharghani showed Chan {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} for a superior ace-high to Chan's flashed {a-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}

Rast, Monnette Chop It Up

Level 16 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante

John Monnette raised from middle position and got three callers: Mike Thorpe (button), Kevin Song (small blind), and Brian Rast (big blind).

The flop came {6-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{10-Spades}, Rast bet, and both Monnette and Song called; Thorpe got out of the way. Song led on the {j-Diamonds} turn and was called by both opponents.

On the {8-Diamonds} river, Song slowed down with a check allowing Rast to bet. Monnette called, then Song went into the tank for a few minutes before deciding to fold.

"Nine," Rast said as he showed {10-Hearts}{9-Spades} for the straight. Monnette turned over {k-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} for the same straight, and they chopped the pot.

Somerville Peaking in the Tournament

Level 16 : 6,000/12,000, 0 ante
Jason Somerville
Jason Somerville

Following the break, Jason Somerville continued to gather chips from his tablemates, and extended his newfound chip lead.

Somerville raised Casey McCarrel's big blind, which McCarrel defended.

The {9-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{5-Hearts} flop was checked through, but on the {a-Clubs} turn, Somerville fired out a bet. McCarrel folded.

On the very next hand, Somerville again raised in middle position, into John Racener's big blind. Somerville received a series of folds and took down the blinds.
