Burgess' Fold Goes from Good to Bad as Beckman Doubles

Level 9 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Corey Burgess raised pre-flop before Greg Beckman moved all in for about 20,000 and the player to Beckman's right re-shoved. Burgess gave it some thought but decided to fold, saying he had {10-}{10-}.

Beckman showed {5-Hearts}{5-Spades} and was up against {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}. The {9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{2-Hearts} flop gave Beckman's opponent top set. "Good fold," a tablemate said to Burgess.

But the turn and river ran out {6-Spades}{7-Diamonds}, which would have given Burgess the straight and knocked out both opponents. "Bad fold. From good fold to bad fold," the tablemate said.

Beckman had the lower end of the straight to crack his opponent's set and double up.

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Chon Wong shoved all-in from the high jack over a middle position open, then the button re-shoved over the top, and the middle position player called with very little behind.

Chon Wong: {2-Diamonds}{2-Spades}
Button: {a-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}
Middle Postion: {a-Spades}{k-Hearts}

The board ran out {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{9-Spades}{2-Hearts} and Wong won with a set of deuces.

Poker Hall of Famer in the Field

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

"We have a Poker Hall of Famer here. He's the GOAT," a tablemate said, pointing to Jack McClelland sitting to his right.

McClelland, with 27 WSOP cashes dating back to the 1980s, made the final table of the $10,000 Seven Card Stud Championship earlier in this series.

Kade Chopped Down by Straight

Level 8 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Vanessa Kade was heads-up on the turn with the board showing {4-Spades}{6-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}. Her opponent in the blinds bet out 3,000, and Kade called.

Kade was then faced with a bet of 8,000 on the {5-Hearts} river and she called. Her opponent turned over {7-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} for a straight, and Kade fell below 10 big blinds.

Kade was eliminated shortly afterward.

The hand was picked up on the flop of {6-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{2-Clubs} and the pot of 4,000.

Allen Kessler bet 2,600 and the only other player in the pot mucked.

More importantly for Kessler he's now doubled his original starting stack.

Deeb Lets One Go

Level 7 : 400/800, 800 ante

Shaun Deeb raised from the hijack and the big blind defended. Deeb continued for 1,000 on a flop of {6-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{6-Spades} and the big blind called.

On the {a-Hearts} turn, Deeb's opponent led out for 3,500 and Deeb quickly let his hand go. A late addition to the field, the four-time bracelet winner has already lost more than half his starting stack.

Tony Miles at the same table is up to 55,000.
