Welcome to Day 1 of Event #85: $50,000 High Roller

WSOP Bracelet
WSOP Bracelet

Event #85: $50,000 High Roller marks the second of three No-Limit Hold'em high rollers this week and is set to begin at 3 p.m. local time. (Event #82: $250,000 Super High Roller is already underway and the $100,000 buy-in event is set to begin tomorrow.)

Back in 2019, Danny Tang won this event after topping a 123-entry field to claim his first gold bracelet and $1,608,406 first-place prize. It appears Tang has been absent during this year's WSOP, which means a new winner for this event among the high-roller crowd will be recognized.

So far during the 2021 WSOP, Tyler Cornell and Michael Addamo have both claimed victory in No-Limit Hold'em High Rollers — with the former taking down Event #38: $50,000 High Roller for $833,289 and the latter winning Event #38: $50,000 High Roller for $1,132,968.

Players will begin this eight-handed event with 300,000 in chips. Levels will last 40 minutes each and the first level will start things off at 1,000/1,000 blinds with a 1,000 big blind ante. A 15-minute break will occur after every three levels and Day 1 will conclude after 12 levels have been played.

Late registration will conclude at the start of Day 2 and players are allowed one re-entry each.

Continue to stick with PokerNews as we will be providing all the high-roller action from the tournament floor leading to the next gold-bracelet winner!

Michael Addamo
Michael Addamo

On a river board reading {10-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{3-Spades}{9-Spades}{2-Hearts}, Michael Addamo bet 120,000 into a pot of 96,000. Aleksejs Ponakovs then jammed over top for about 270,000.

Addamo called and Ponakovs showed {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}. Addamo rolled over {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for a winning two pair, eliminating Ponakovs at the start of level four.

Yokosawa Shoves

Level 5 : 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante
Masato Yokosawa
Masato Yokosawa

James Chen opened to 10,000 from early position and was called by Masato Yokosawa in the big blind.

Yokosawa check-called a 12,000 bet from Chen on the {2-Clubs}{6-Spades}{7-Hearts} flop but then led out for 18,000 when the {6-Diamonds} fell on the turn. Chen called.

The {j-Hearts} completed the board and Yokosawa announced he was all in for his last 55,000.

Chen asked for a count and then folded — awarding the pot to Yokosawa.

Deeb Doubles Through Nitsche

Level 8 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Shaun Deeb
Shaun Deeb

Stephen Chidwick opened to 22,000 on the button and Dominik Nitsche shoved for around 350,000 from the small blind. Just behind him, Shaun Deeb also announced he was all in for 317,000 total. Chidwick folded and hands were revealed.

Shaun Deeb: {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}
Dominik Nitsche: {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}

It was a race, but the {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} runout kept Deeb's tens in front and he doubled through Nitsche.

Nitsche was left with just 25,000 after the hand.

Addamo Puts the Pressure on Kisacikoglu; Chips Up Above One Million

Level 8 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Michael Addamo
Michael Addamo

On a completed board of {9-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} and a large pot already in the middle, Michael Addamo moved all-in, which sent his opponent Orpen Kisacikoglu into the tank.

After he used one of his time extensions, Kisacikoglu found the fold button, and Addamo was awarded the sizeable pot.

With that hand, Addamo eclipsed the one million chip mark.

Imsirovic Doubles Through Guilbert

Level 9 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Ali Imsirovic
Ali Imsirovic

On a completed board of {3-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{3-Spades}{7-Hearts} Ali Imsirovic checked and Johan Guilbert fired out a bet of 111,000 chips. Next, Imsirovic raised all-in for around 600,000 chips.

After he burned through all four of his remaining time banks, Guilbert opted to call with his {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs} and was shown the bad news as Imsirovic tabled {j-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} for a full house, jacks full of treys, and the latter secured a double up and chipped up to over 1.1 million.

Mosbock Houses Holz

Level 10 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante
Mario Mosbock
Mario Mosbock

Fedor Holz was all-in preflop against Mario Mosbock for about 135,000 with Mosbock just slightly covering him.

Fedor Holz: {k-Spades}{k-Diamonds}
Mario Mosbock: {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

Holz was looking great to double-up until the {10-Spades}{7-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} flop gave Mosbock top set. The {7-Spades} and {6-Diamonds} brought no help to Holz, whose second bullet in the tournament has expired.

Vogelsang Eliminates Grafton

Level 11 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Christoph Vogelsang
Christoph Vogelsang

Sam Grafton moved all-in preflop and was called by Christoph Vogelsang.

The hands were tabled and it was the {k-Spades}{q-Hearts} held by Grafton all-in and at-risk versus the {a-Spades}{6-Hearts} held by Vogelsang.

The dealer ran out the board of {9-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{4-Spades} and things ended just as they began, with Vogelsang ahead, and Grafton was eliminated from the tournament.
