Cates Comes Out Firing After Dinner

Level 17 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

No-Limit Hold'em

Matthew Ashton raised to 60,000 in the cutoff and was three-bet to 205,000 by Dan Cates on the button.

Ashton made the call to see a flop of {2-Clubs}{q-Spades}{7-Spades}. Both players then checked, and the {j-Hearts} fell on the turn.

Ashton checked again, but this time "Jungleman" put out a bet of 275,000, which after a brief deliberation, Ashton folded to.

Two for Aldemir

Level 17 : 10,000/25,000, 25,000 ante

Limit Hold'em

Koray Aldemir raised out of the small blind and Ap Garza defended the big blind. Aldemir bet the {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{10-Hearts} flop and earned a call before they checked down the {4-Spades} turn and {10-Diamonds} river.

Aldemir tabled the {j-Spades}{8-Diamonds} and Garza flashed an inferior hand with a busted flush draw.

One hand later, Aldemir raised the button and Garza three-bet the small blind for Aldemir to call. On a flop of {j-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{7-Hearts}, Garza bet and folded when Aldemir raised it up.

Yockey and Smith Chop; Ashton Chips Up

Level 16 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo

Bryce Yockey: {k-Hearts}{7-Spades}{2-Spades} / {5-Spades}{8-Spades}{3-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}
Dan Smith: {8-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} / {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{6-Spades}{q-Spades}

Bryce Yockey bet a low board against Dan Smith and the latter eventually called on seventh street after mulling it over for a fair bit. Yockey announced a low and king-high, which chopped as Smith won the high pot with ace-queen high.

One table over, Matthew Ashton had a bet on the river of a king-high board and tabled the {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} for the top two pair in order to get paid off by Dan Cates right before the end of the level.

Kihara Rebuilds in Single Draw

Level 16 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw

Naoya Kihara has been battling a short stack as dinner approaches, but a pair of hands have chipped him up.

First, after Benny Glaser raised to 55,000 from the hijack, Kihara jammed for 580,000 from the small blind. Glaser folded and Kihara took the pot.

Shortly after that, it was Dan Smith raising to 50,000 in first position and Kihara again jammed, this time from the cutoff.

Smith folded to send another pot Kihara's way and boost him over 800,000

Andrew Kelsall: {7-}{6-}{3-}{2-} / {x-}
Dan Cates: {9-}{5-}{4-}{3-}{2-}

The final card for Kelsall was the {q-} and he was sent to the rail.

Ashton Blasts Becker Off His Pat Hand

Level 16 : 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

No-Limit 2-7 Single Draw

In what started as an innocent enough hand with Johannes Becker min raising from the small blind and getting a call from Matthew Ashton in the big blind, things then got very interesting, showing the nuance and wild possibilities of No-Limit Single Draw.

Becker patted his hand and Ashton drew three cards.

After Becker checked, likely hoping for a bluff attempt from Ashton, he got a bet from Ashton all right, for 225,000. Over two times the size of the pot.

Becker pondered his decision for a bit, then elected to fold to the large bet, sending his pat hand into the muck, while the three-card draw of Ashton raked in the chips.
