Kevin Gerhart Eliminated in 5th Place ($44,415)

Level 28
Kevin Gerhart
Kevin Gerhart

Omaha Eight or Better

Action picked up on the turn with a board showing {5-Spades}{10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{2-Spades}. Kevin Gerhart led from the big blind and Richard Tatalovich raised. Gerhart committed the rest of his chips and the two turned their hands over.

Kevin Gerhart: {a-Spades}{10-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}
Richard Tatalovich: {j-Spades}{9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{8-Spades}

Gerhart had top pair, a flush draw, a low draw, and an open-ended straight draw and was up against the set of Tatalovich. Gerhart missed everything on the {j-Hearts} river and was sent to the rail.

Richard Tatalovich: {x-}{x-}/{2-Spades}{2-Clubs}{j-Spades}{8-Diamonds}/{x-}

After Tomasz Gluszko completed, Richard Tatalovich defended his bring-in.

Tatalovich paired his door card deuce on fourth then bet fourth and fifth streets, with Gluszko calling each street.

On sixth, Tatalovich continued betting but was this time raised by Gluszko.

After a couple of minutes of thought, Tatalovich opted to call.

The players checked seventh street and Tatalovich asked Gluszko what he had to beat. Gluszko showed two pair, aces and fives, which Tatalovich couldn't beat.

Gluszko wasn't done there either.

Richard Tatalovich: {x-}{x-}/{3-Spades}{3-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} -folded sixth street

On the following hand, with Tatalovich again showing an open pair on fourth street, he bet and was raised by Gluschko.

"Here we go again," said Tatalovich before making the call.

On fifth street he checked to Gluszko and was faced with another bet, with Gluszko playfully adding "all in", though the bet was only for the allowed 200,000. Tatalovich went into the tank, with Gluszko teasingly saying "good fold buddy," but Tatalovich eventually called to see sixth street.

After picking up a jack, Tatalovich shook his head and checked, with Gluszko tossing out another bet.

"I guess you've got my number," said Tatalovich as he mucked his hand and sent another pot to his Polish opponent.

Perry Friedman: {a-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}/{8-Spades}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{k-Spades}
Lawrence Brandt: {7-Spades}{3-Spades}/{a-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{q-Spades}{2-Diamonds}

Perry Friedman completed showing an ace and Lawrence Brandt raised behind him. Back on Friedman, he raised again, all in for 240,000 and Brandt called.

Both players hit low cards all the way down with Perry winning the high on fifth street. Brandt hit a better ace-high on sixth while Friedman made a better low. Brandt succinctly analyzed the situation next.

"I guess I need a deuce," he said.

Right on time, he flipped the {2-Diamonds} on seventh to make a wheel and eliminate Friedman.

Lawrence Brandt: {a-Spades}{7-Spades}/{4-Spades}{8-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}/{j-Spades}
Yarron Bendor: {k-Spades}{3-Diamonds}/{k-Hearts}{5-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{q-Spades}/{10-Spades}
Roberto Marin: {x-}{x-}/{10-Clubs} - folded third street

Lawrence Brandt brought in and was called by Roberto Marin. Yarron Bendor then completed, and with action back on him, Brandt turned his bring-in into two bets, eliciting a fold from Marin.

"Aces, or rolled up fours," asked Bendor before tossing in another 100,000 to call.

On fourth street, Bendor checked and Brandt checked behind.

Having seen that action, Bendor felt confident to bet 200,000 of his remaining 240,000 chips on fifth street. Brandt raised him all in and after Bendor called, the hands were revealed.

Brandt had nothing more than ace-jack high, with three to a flush while Bendor was ahead with split kings that had yet to improve.

Brandt however then hit running jacks to make trips, while Bendor didn't improve, leaving Bendor stunned as he saw his chips passed across the table with his day ending in an unceremonious fashion.

Perry Friedman: {k-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}/{k-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{k-Spades}/{x-}

Perry Friedman saw a player completed in front of him and put in the second bet with his split kings. Kevin Gerhart three-bet with aces in the hole. Action folded to Friedman who got it all in with Gerhart for 290,000 total.

All in and behind, Friedman was looking to improve to stay alive. He drilled the magical third king on sixth street to leave Gerhart drawing to two outs. Friedman didn't hit an ace and Friedman got the double.
