Gilbert Eliminated by Fashakin

Level 9 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Femi Fashakin three-bet to 5,600 on the button and then instantly called the four-bet shove by James Gilbert in the cutoff for what appeared to be around 37,000.

James Gilbert: A10

The KQ9 flop left Gilbert with back door diamonds and four jacks. He missed both on the 5 turn and A river to join the rail.

Alt’s Top Set Sends Beresford to Rail

Level 9 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Dinesh Alt
Dinesh Alt

Dinesh Alt was in the middle of a growing pot even before the flop, and his chip stack expanded as a result.

Alt raised 2,200 in early position, but Conor Beresford to his immediate left three-bet to 7,200, which Alt called after action folded to him.

The dealer fanned 638 on the board, which Alt checked, and Beresford bet 8,000. Alto took more than a minute studying the board, and then check-raised to 24,000. This time, it was his opponent’s turn to take a moment or two, but he made the call.

The turn produced Q, on which Alt check-called for 16,000 to bring 7 on the river.

Alt checked, and then watched his opponent count his stack, which totalled 40,300. Beresford announced an all-in bet, which Alt immediately called.

Dinesh Alt: QQ
Conor Beresford: 99

Alt’s top set took down a massive pot, which propelled him among the tourney chip leaders, and sent Beresford to the rail.

Down to a mere 11,000, Anthony Spinella pushed all in from the button. Jose Mariema called all in for fewer than that and was trailing with the A7, as Spinella held the far superior AK.

However, the kicker played a crucial role on the 109886 runout as Mariema rivered a straight to put Spinella even further into the danger zone.

Chen’s River Raise Gets It Done

Level 8 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

A player under the gun raised to 1,200, which received calls from two players, including WSOP bracelet winner Pete Chen on the button.

After the two players in the blinds folded, the dealer fanned J96 on the board. The player under the gun led out with 1,700, which resulted in a player in middle position to fold. Chen, though, called.

The dealer placed K, which both players checked. The 8 appeared on the river, and the player under the gun led out with 4,500.

Chen took an aggressive line and raised to 12,500. His opponent looked at the board for a few seconds, and then mucked his hand.
