Matt Vengrin
Matt Vengrin

Matt Vengrin, nursing an extremely short stack, was all in before the first draw — and up against Serhii Popovych in the big blind.

Popovych thought a while before deciding to draw three and Vengrin immediately pushed all four of his cards towards the dealer, explaining that he "didn't look" before going all in.

When all the cards were out Popovych showed 632Xx while Vengrin could only manage 73AXx and hit the rail.

Rodrigues Pulling Away

Level 34 : Blinds 100,000/200,000, 0 ante

Matt Vengrin opened on the button and was called by Michael Rodrigues in the small blind as well as Yingui Li in the big blind.

Both Rodrigues and Li took one card on the first draw while Vengrin opted for two. Rodrigues then checked, prompting Li to bet. He received two calls to keep action three-way heading to the second draw.

Vengrin drew one on the second draw but both of his opponents stood pat. All three players checked.

On the final draw, Rodrigues and Li again stood pat and Vengrin drew one more. Rodrigues then bet, getting a call from Li and a fold from Vengrin. The Portuguese pro showed down 854A as Li mucked to send a sizable pot the chip leader's way.

Danny Tang Eliminated in 5th Place ($28,270)

Level 33 : Blinds 75,000/150,000, 0 ante
Danny Tang
Danny Tang

Danny Tang opened from under the gun and called after Yingui Li three-bet out of the small blind.

Li stood pat on the first draw while Tang took one. "Gotta get there" he told his rail as he peeled his card before calling a bet from Li.

The second draw saw Li stand pat once again with Tang taking another card. Li then bet enough to force Tang all in with the high stakes regular committing his last few chips to the pot.

On the final draw, Li stood pat and Tang took his last card. "One more chance" Tang said as he turned over 72A, behind the Q875 of Li. After making a spectacle of revealing the fourth card, Tang flipped over the A, condemning him to a fifth place finish after sitting on a big stack for much of the day.

Tang on Life Support

Level 33 : Blinds 75,000/150,000, 0 ante

Danny Tang opened from under the gun before Serhii Popovych three-bet out of the big blind. Tang responded with a four-bet, which Popovych called.

Both players patted and checked through the first two draws to the final draw at which point they again declined to draw. Popovych had had enough of checking at that stage, tossing out a bet which Tang, not appearing too happy with the situation, called. Tang mucked after Popovych tabled 752A to leave him with just over one big bet and needing a good run of cards fast to mount a comeback.
