Volen Holds With Big Slick to Double Up

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

Action started postflop as the board read K73. The early position player led out for 3,000 as Adam Volen called to the turn.

A 2 on the turn changed little, as the previous better checked to Volen. Volen bet 10,000 before being raised to 20,000. With little behind in chips, he jammed all in with the opposing player making the call.

Volen flipped over AK as his opponent showed A5 for the nut flush draw and a gutshot straight draw. Fortunately for Volen, the river came the J allowing him to double his stack.

With this victory, Volen has almost double the starting stack at 73,000.

Montgomery Flops a Monster

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

There was a cutoff open to 1,500. The button then announced a raise to 2,500. Mans Montgomery thought for a moment and cold called from the small blind. The original raiser then flicked in the extra 1,000.

The 1043 flop landed and action checked to the button who put out a wager of 5,000. Both Montgomery and the cutoff made the call.

The turn brought a 3 and the action checked through.

The dealer put the 5 on the river and Montgomery led out for 9,300. The cutoff folded and the button was not a believer as he stuck in the call.

Montgomery showed that he flopped the second nuts with KJ. The button shook his head and showed 77 before turning them back into the dealer.

Robert Takes Down a Pot to Near Starting Stack

Level 4 : Blinds 300/500, 500 ante

With a preflop raise of 1,400 from the UTG player, Vincent Robert called from the dealer button taking it heads up to the flop.

The flop came 229 where the prior aggressor continued for 1,800. Robert took little time making the call.

A 10 on the turn slowed down the action, as the early position player checked to Robert. Robert bet 4,000 with the other player making a call shortly after.

The river peeled the J leading to another check from the first acting player. Robert bet 8,000 prompting a quick fold from his opponent.

With this pot, Robert is sitting just under starting stack with 33,000.
