Monicatti Wins Big After Sweat

Level 5 : Blinds 300/600, 600 ante

Preflop action opened with a raise from the player under the gun. Three players called - a player in late position, the button, and Mike Monicatti from the big blind.

The flop came 599. The player under the gun moved all in for 13,000. They received calls from both the player in late position and the button. Monicatti then reraised all in for 18,300. The player in late position folded, and the button called.

Mike Monicatti: Q9
Button: A5

Monicatti's trips were solidly ahead, but faced a huge sweat when the 5 came on the turn giving the button trips as well. The J on the river was harmless, though, and Monicatti took down the huge pot.

Action is picked up on a 7K5 flop when it folded to the button who put out a bet of 2,000. The small blind player made the call and Caio De Almeida check raised to 7,000 from middle position. The button thought for a moment and flicked in the call and the small blind got out of the way.

Off to a 7 turn and Almeida continued the story as he bet 8,000. The button thought for a moment and made the call.

The 6 river hit and Almeida didn't think for too long before stacking the remainder of his chips and putting them in the middle. The button looked frustrated but ultimately he flipped over the K and mucked his hand.

Almeida dragged a nice pot to chip up early.

With Day 2 of the $25,000 Heads Up No-Limit Hold'em Championship at the 2023 World Series of Poker currently in motion, PokerNews thought it'd be a fun idea to ask the artificial intelligence chatbot ChatGPT to predict the outcome of the event.

From the original field of 64, just 16 players made it through to Day 2, where the Round of 16 and Quarter Finals will play out on the WSOP felt.

Among those who fell by the wayside in the first session included Phil Ivey, Daniel Negreanu and 2022 WSOP Main Event champion Espen Jorstad, while the likes of Doug Polk, Chris Brewer and Chance Kornuth all managed to navigate through the first two rounds successfully.

So, we inputted the matchups into ChatGPT to see how it thinks the Heads Up Championship will play out. It produced many hypothetical eye-catching confrontations while also thinking that a certain someone would pick up their fourth WSOP bracelet.
