Stuart Rolfe raised 700 in late position before the flop but faced resistance from the player in the small a player in middle position.
The dealer fanned 3♠9♥J♥ on the board, and the small blind led out with a bet, who saw calls from the player in middle position and Rolfe.
The turn produced 6♦, which slowed down the action from the small blind, who checked. The player in middle position also checked and Rolfe bet 3,000, which drew calls from his opponents.
The river saw 9♠, and all three players checked it down. Rolfe tabled K♣K♦, and both of his opponents mucked their hands.

Brandon Fishman limped in from under the gun as did a player from the small blind. The big blind opted to check.
The flop came J♠9♠3♦ and both the blinds checked to Fishman, who bet 700. The small blind got out of the way and the big blind made the call.
The turn came the J♥ and the big blind check-called another bet from Fishman, this time for 1,200.
The big blind checked again on the 5♥ river and Fishman fired another bet for 2,200. The big blind quickly made the call.
Fishman turned over Q♥J♣ to take the pot.

Mehdi Anooshahr faced a decision on the turn.
Anooshahr, who was on the button, just bet 5,500 on a board showing 3♥10♦9♣5♦, but his opponent check-raised to 14,000.
Anooshahr took his time, studying the board and glancing at his opponent, who kept a stoic face and was sitting still.
After close to a minute, Anooshahr came to his decision and collected his chips. He then placed them in a single stack and moved all in by placing them on top of his original 5,500 bet.
The action certainly got his opponent’s attention, as he looked down at his cards before mucking the hand.

Matt Boddorf brought to the attention of PokerNews that he doubled up in the very first hand of the day.
With the board reading A♣J♥8♣2♥ on the turn, the hijack bet 4,000, which was raised by Boddorf on the button to 10,000.
The hijack immediately moved all in, committing all of their 250 big blind starting stack which was called by Boddorf.
Hijack: A♦Q♠
Matt Boddorf: 8♦8♥
Boddorf's set was ahead of the hijack's top pair. The 8♠ completed the board to give Boddorf quads and made him the first person to reach six-figures in the tournament.

With 7,000 in the middle with the board reading 8♦3♥2♥K♦, the early position player bet 4,500 and was called by Dermot Blain in the cutoff.
The Q♥ river completed the front door flush draw. Early position opted to check and was met with a pot-sized bet of 17,000 from Blain. The early position player said "I guess you got there!" and folded their cards.

Michael Dobbs got involved in a battle of the blinds.
Dobbs faced a 1,300 raise from his opponent in the big blind and he three-bet to 3,700. His opponent, who had Dobbs covered, responded by going all in. Dobbs let out an audible sigh and then called to put his tournament at stake.

Dobbs was behind, but got a little comfortable when the dealer fanned 2♦Q♦3♣, giving Dobbs top set. The turn showed J♣, leaving Dobbs’ opponent drawing thin. The 2♠ on the river cemented the hand in Dobbs’ favor.
The battle between the two players wasn’t over because they went at it again on the very next hand.
On a board showing 4♣3♠8♠9♠9♦, Dobbs tabled J♦J♥ to take another pot.

Marle Spragge opened to 500 from the button and received a call from Brian Pedersen in the small blind.
Both players checked the K♥7♦5♠ flop leading to the 7♠ on the turn. Pederson bet 600 and Spragge made the call.
Action checked through on the 4♣ river. Pederson tabled K♦Q♥ for two-pair to take the pot.

With 6,300 in the middle at the turn with the board reading Q♥8♠7♣A♣, the cutoff bet 3,500 and was called by Kyle Janisse in the hijack.
The 9♥ completed the board and Janisse opted to lead out for 4,000 against the aggressor. The cutoff thought about it for a minute before choosing to fold.
