That's just a small taste of the elite level of the returning field as there are 40 total WSOP bracelets held by the 18 returning players with other notables Eli Elezra (484,000), Brad Ruben (341,000), John Monnette (208,000), and David "ODB" Baker (154,000) all returning looking to add to their bracelet collections.

Jason Mercier also bagged for Day 3 (340,000) having just won the $1,500 version of this very tournament just one day ago.

The players who busted before reaching the money on Day 2 is also a whose who list of poker elites as Phil Ivey, Chance Kornuth, Phil Hellmuth and Sam Soverel all went home empty handed.

While Mercier and company were building stacks to take into Day 3, there were a handful of players who busted late in the day and went home with a payout including defending champion Pedro Bromfman (24th - $16,000) who fell in a pot versus John Monnette, Dan Shak (23rd - $16,000), Yehuda Buchalter (22nd - $16,000), Jeff Lennon (21st - $16,000) and Christopher Claassen (20th - $17,500) who hit the rail when he broke a better low than Negranu and ended up paring one of his hole cards.

Play had originally been scheduled to play through Level 17, but after a late start and a handful of players that didn't want to play until 3:00a.m., play was stopped after Level 16.

The third and final day is scheduled to get started at 1:00p.m. local time, July 1st and will start in Level 17 with blinds of 6,000 and 12,000 and a big blind ante of 18,000. The final table is planned to be streamed on PokerGO with cards up and as always, PokerNews will be there from the onset until a champion is crowned, so keep it locked here for up-to-date coverage of this and all remaining tournaments at the 2023 World Series of Poker!

Ruben Doubles Through Ramos

Level 16 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 15,000 ante

Galen Hall opened to 24,000 from middle position only to see Felipe Ramos move all in from the cutoff. Brad Ruben then called off for less on the button, prompting the remaining players and Hall to get out of the way.

Ramos stood pat, something that sent Ruben deep into the tank as decided whether to break his hand. He did eventually pat back with 9x8x7x3x2x and received the good news once Ramos turned over 10x8x6x5x3x to score the double, leaving Ramos short.

Dzivielevski Goes for Value

Level 16 : Blinds 5,000/10,000, 15,000 ante

James Chen opened to 30,000 on the button and then called after Yuri Dzivielevski three-bet to 150,000 out of the small blind.

Dzivielevski stood pat while Chen chose to take two. The Brazilian pro then pushed another bet of 150,000 into the middle. Chen thought long and hard about his decision but eventually made the call only to muck after Dzivielevski showed down 9x8xXxXxXx to take a big hit to his stack late in the day.

Daniel Negreanu raised to 35,000 and Chris Claassen jammed.

Negreanu made the call and stood pat, showing J8432.

Claassen had taken one, breaking a better hand and ended up pairing one of his hole cards before quickly turning his hand face down and tossing them into the muck before finding the exit in 20th place for $17,500.

Jeff Lennon opened to 22,000 from middle position before Felipe Ramos three-bet in the cutoff. Action folded back around to Lennon who moved all in and was instantly called.

Both players stood pat after which Lennon tabled 8x6x4x3x2x. Despite the strength of his hand, it came up short against the 8x5x4x3x2x of Ramos to send Lennon to the rail in 21st place in cruel fashion.
