2023 World Series of Poker
The board A♦5♦A♥6♠ was already dealt with around 7,000 in the pot when the big blind bet 5,000. Cary Katz took a minute and raised it to 10,000. His opponent didn't take long to fold and Katz added the chips to his stack.
The table recounted a hand played shortly before:
Alexandru Papazian raised 800 under the gun and Akira Hashimoto defended the big blind.
On the Qx10x2♦ flop, Hashimoto check-called a bet of 700.
The 3♦ hit the turn and Hashimoto check-called again, this time for 5,000.
The 4♦ completed the board and Hashimoto checked once again before Papazian fired another bullet of 20,000. Hashimoto made the call.
Papazian tabled A♦Kx for ace-high which was no good against Hashimoto's Q♦J♣.
Papazian had 25,000 remaining after the hand, and busted shortly after.
Felipe De Paulo raised to 1,000 from early position. James Collopy called from middle position, Kathy Liebert from the small blind, and the big blind also put in calls.
De Paulo continued for 2,700 on a 9♥6♣7♣ flop, with Collopy calling, and Liebert and the big blind folding.
Both De Paulo and Collopy checked the K♣ turn, and then De Paulo fired the betting machine back up, putting in 4,500 on a queen river.
Collopy tanked for a while before finding the call. De Paulo turned over 7♦6♦, and Collopy mucked.
Andrew Chen opened to 900 from under the gun and a player in middle position three-bet to 3,000. Johnny Landreth cold-called on the button and Chen came along as well.
On the flop of Q♣8♥5♥ Chen checked to the player in middle position who continued for 3,300. Both Landreth and Chen made the call and the trio saw the 9♣ turn.
Chen checked again and so did the player in middle position. Landreth tossed out 7,000 and both players made the call. The 10♦ completed the board and action checked to Landreth who slid out a small bet of 6,000. Chen folded and the middle position player shrugged before tossing in a chip for the call.
Landreth tabled J♠10♠ for the turned nut-straight and scored the pot when his opponent mucked.
Daniel Vampan is currently sitting on the largest stack in the Horseshoe Blue section and just added some more chips.
Vampan three-bet to 4,200 from the button and an opponent in early position called. The flop came 6♦3♣J♠ and his opponent checked to Vampan, who threw out another 4,500.
His opponent quickly folded and Vampan took down yet another pot.
In a heads-up pot, George Holmes check-called from the big blind a bet worth 3,000 from in opponent.
The 2♦ turn didn't bring any action and a 6♥ landed on the river. Holmes checked again and his opponent sent 6,500 in the middle. Holmes went deep into the tank and ended up calling after a few minutes.
His opponent showed Q♣J♣ for ace-high and Holmes took down the pot with A♦8♥ for a pair of aces.
Middle position jammed all in 9,400 and Alexander Bunin called behind. The cutoff raised to 22,000 and late position called to the flop.
The flop came A♦9♥8♠ and both players were quick to check.
When the 2♣ peeled off on the river, Bunin led out for 10,000. His opponent was quick to fold and both remaining players revealed their hands.
Opponent: A♥J♦
Alexander Bunin: A♠K♣
The river was the 9♣ for Bunin to scoop the pot and send his opponent to the rail.
The player in the hijack opened to 1,000 and Chance Kornuth three-bet to 3,200 on the button. Action folded back to the initial raiser, who called.
The hijack check-called a 2,200 bet from Kornuth on the 6♣Q♦A♥ flop, but check-folded after a lengthy tank when Kornuth bet 9,600 on the 8♦ turn.
