Mazzawi Fighting Back from the Brink

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

The big blind bet 4,500 on a board of 6828 and Christopher Mazzawi called from the cutoff.

When the big blind bet again, this time 17,500 on a 3 river, Mazzawi snapped him off. The big blind showed a busted straight draw, and Mazzawi the nut flush AJ.

"Look at him," Axel Hallay said. "He was about to bust, and now look." Mazzawi confirmed Hallay's admiration, saying he had been down to 19,000 before the dinner break, and had reraised a 14,000 bet all in with just ace five, and spiked the ace that catapulted him toward his current post-dinner-break stack.

Meanwhile at this table, Robert Russ has continued his strong Day 2, chipping up his big stack with what he called, "Some inadvisable hero calls that nevertheless worked out."
