"Bags" Looking to Bag Big

Level 11 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
John Bagosy
John Bagosy

John "Bags" Bagosy finds himself with one of the bigger stacks in the tournament so far, and he spoke with PokerNews about a big pot that he recently won.

According to Bagosy, he raised to 6,500 preflop from the cutoff. Yuki Sako, the big blind, made the call. The flop came 65x3. The big blind bet 45,000, with Bagosy raising all in for 268,000. Sako called, which put him at risk with the shorter stack.

Yuki Sako: AxAx
John Bagosy: A4

Sako's overpair was ahead, but Bagosy had multiple draws. One of those draws completed when a 2x hit on the turn, giving Bagosy a wheel. Another 2x on the river did not improve Sako's hand, and Bagosy scored the elimination.

Level 11 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

Picking up the action on the river, Chang Qiu from under the gun was involved in a hand with Wayne Nicholsen in the big blind. With the board reading Q7Q33, Nicholsen checked. Qiu counted out a bet of 31,000, leaving herself not much more behind. Nicholsen responded by raising to 71,000, enough to force his opponent all in.

After some thought Qiu, called off for her tournament life, turning over AQ for the full house. It was no good, however, as Nicholsen held Q7 for the better boat to send Qiu to the rail in brutal fashion.

Elsewhere, another former WSOP Main Event champion bit the dust as Joe McKeehen was seen exiting the tournament area.
