No Back to Back for Duek

Level 24 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Michael Duek
Michael Duek

Michael Duek, who finished in third place in last year's main event, opened to 65,000 from middle position and was called by Bradley Moskowitz in the big blind.

Moskowitz led into Duek for 65,000 on the K106 flop and Duek made the call.

The turn was the 3. Moskowitz bet 400,000. Once again Duek made the call.

On the 7 river Moskowitz moved all in for approximately 1,900,000, slightly covering Duek.

After roughly three minutes Duek made the call, putting himself at risk. Duek showed down KJ for a flopped top pair which could not beat Moskowitz' K10 for flopped two pair. Duek's deep run came to an end just a few days short of making back to back final tables while Moskowitz received a full double up.

Jason Liu opened to 105,000 in early position and Mason Vieth three-bet to 325,000 in the cutoff. Liu four-bet to 925,000 and Vieth responded by five-bet jamming with Liu covered. Liu called off for about 1,100,000 more.

Jason Liu: QQ
Mason Vieth: KK

Liu's queens couldn't pull ahead against his opponent's kings as the board ran out 3A648 to mark Liu's elimination as Vieth clapped his hands loudly and high-fived a friend.

Johnson Shoves, Salsberg Tanks to Hawkins' Reshove

Level 24 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Charles Johnson
Charles Johnson

Charles Johnson moved all in for 900,000 from middle position before Maurice Hawkins reshoved on the button. Matt Salsberg in the big blind tanked for several minutes as he considered the decision for his last 850,000. The clock was eventually called and Salsberg folded, claiming to have ace-king.

Charles Johnson: AJ
Maurice Hawkins: AK

"I figured you had ace-king," Johnson told Hawkins heading to the 10A8 flop, which gave both players top pair but Hawkins remained in the lead with his king-kicker. The board ran out 45 and Johnson was eliminated.

Johnson accidentally stepped on the water bottle of tablemate Jan-Peter Jachtmann as he prepared to make his exit, spilling water all over the table.

"Water bomb," the good-natured Johnson said as he and Hawkins exchanged a fist bump.

Rigby's Dusty Hand Good Enough to Oust Heidorn

Level 24 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

Nicholas Rigby opened to 125,000 from middle position only to see Robert Heidorn move all in for 750,000 out of the small blind. Rigby thought for quite some time but did eventually make the call to put Heidorn at risk.

Robert Heidorn: AK
Nicholas Rigby: 107

Rigby had made the call with what can fairly be called a somewhat less than premium holding but did have two live cards. The 9610 immediately flipped the script, leaving Heidorn needing to get lucky to survive. The J turn gave the at risk player some additional outs but none of them came in on the 3 river to send Heidorn packing in a frustrating spot.

Dilpsas Knocked Out by Dyachenko

Level 24 : Blinds 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

Aditya Systla raised to 100,000 and Matas Dilpsas three-bet to 275,000. Pavel Dyachenko clicked it back to 450,000 in the small blind and Systla asked for the stack size of Dilpsas before folding while the Lithuanian called.

On the Q102 flop, Dyachenko bet 700,000 and Dilpsas called all-in for just shy of that.

Matas Dilpsas: KJ
Pavel Dyachenko: AA

The 5 turn and Q river changed nothing and Dilpsas headed to the payout desk.

Soon after, Logan Hoover lost a big pot to Systla when he paid of JJ on a queen-high board. "Now you have it all back," Hoover joked in regards to their prevcious clash.
