2024 World Series of Poker
Kane Kalas raised on the button to 19,500 and Owen Messere three-bet to 64,000. Kalas then four-bet shoved all-in, covering Messere, who quickly called.
Owen Messere: A♣8♣
Kane Kalas: A♦K♥
Kalas was in good shape to end the match and advance to the next round. That was until the dealer put out the flop of 2♥8♦5♥, putting Messere in the lead.
Kalas would need a king or running hearts to knock out his opponent, but the J♣ turn and 9♥ river offered no help. Messere secured the double up and the lead in the match.

Cary Katz limped in from the button and called when Artur Martirosian made it 25,000 from the big blind.
Katz called bets of 15,000 and 50,000 on the flop and turn for the final board to read A♦A♥6♦7♠8♠. Martirosian fired out another 150,000 before Katz jammed. Before the stack was counted, Martirosian folded Ax10x face up and Katz took in the pot.

After being left short, Michael Steele was all in and at risk for his tournament life.
In a limped pot to the 9♠8♦7♠ flop, Patrick Kennedy jammed, and Steele committed his last 51,000.
Michaele Steele: 10♣7♥
Patrick Kennedy: 8x8x
In quick succession, Kennedy flopped another set of eights but fell behind when Kennedy completed his straight on the 6♥ turn. The Q♠ river ensured Steele's double and the match continued.
Shortly after, Steele jammed from the button and Kennedy snap-called.
Michaele Steele: 10♥10♠
Patrick Kennedy: A♠Q♠
Steele remained in front on the K♠8♠8♣ flop but Kennedy made his flush on the 7♠ turn. The 5♣ river marked Steele's demise and was the first player to exit on Day 2.

Owen Messere raised to 15,500, before being three-bet by Kane Kalas to 54,000. Messere elected to make the call to see a flop.
The flop came A♥5♣2♦, and Kalas led out for 42,000. Messere decided to make the call.
On the turn came the K♣, and Kalas continued to bet, this time for 127,000. Messere didn't go anywhere and made the call.
With 446,000 in the pot, the 8♣ completed the board. Kane Kalas declared all-in for his remaining 186,000, and after a short deliberation, Messere announced call.
Kalas tabled 4♠3♠ for a flopped straight in the form of a wheel. Messere threw his cards in the muck, to give Kalas the double up.

The 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) is underway, and poker players in the tens of thousands will flock to The Horseshoe to pursue their dreams of WSOP glory.
After looking through the schedule, you've probably already thought about which events you'd like to hop into. This can be a tough choice if you need to mull over many variables like bankroll considerations, how long you can go for, etc. Luckily for you, PokerNews has tried to aid that decision process with this guide on how to choose best what WSOP tournament(s) to play.
Patrick Kennedy opened to 12,000 on the button and Michael Steele called.
Steele checked to Kennedy on the A♦7♠8♠ flop and he continued for 8,000. Kennedy then check-raised to 28,000 and, undeterred, Kennedy announced another raise to 72,000. Steele called.
The 3♦ fell on the turn and Steele checked to Kennedy, who fired 160,000 into the middle. Steele announced he was all in and Kennedy snap-called all in for 481,000 total.
Steele turned over 7♥7♦ for a set of sevens, but Kennedy showed him the bad news as he turned over 8♦8♥ for a higher flopped set.
“Brutal cooler,” Kennedy said as he collected the pot.

On a flop of 9♥3♣K♥, and 100,000 in the pot, James Gorham checked over to Nikolai Mamut, who bet 50,000.
The turn landed the 4♦, and Gorham check-called again, this time for 140,000.
On the 10♠ river, Gorham checked once more, and Mamut decided to check back. Gorham turned over JxJ♦ and his pair of jacks was enough to scoop the sizable pot.
