Pierpaolo Lamanna and his opponent in middle position had arrived on a completed board of 8♣6♦4♠K♠Q♥. His opponent made a bet of 5,500 into the pot of 10,000 chips and Lamanna raised to 16,000.
The player in middle position considered his options for a bit before mucking his cards and seeing Lamanna's stack grow even further.
Aneris Adomkevicius raised and was called only by Diego Gomez in the big blind. They checked down the J♠6♣4♣6♠3♦ board and Gomez tabled the K♠7♠ for a pair of sixes and king-high. Adomkevicius glanced at his cards twice and mucked but remains above two times the starting stack.
Also a big stack in the Horseshoe Ballroom is Valentino Konakchiev, who has a similar stack size. Konakchiev continued for 500 on a A♦A♥10♣ flop and Ashley McKay check-called. They checked the K♦ turn and McKay's bet of 2,600 on the 6♠ river won the pot uncontested.
Talal Shakerchi raised to 700 from the under the gun and was three-bet to 2,000 by a player in middle position. After it folded back to Shakerchi, he made the call.
The flop fell 9♠5♠2♣. Shakerchi checked and the middle position player bet 1,100. Shakerchi called.
The turn cameA♣ and both players checked.
On the 2♥ river, Shakerchi checked and then faced a bet of 2,100 from his opponent. Shakerchi instantly threw in the call. Both players showed AxKx and chopped the pot.
Three ways on a flop of 4♦6♣5♦, Chance Kornuth checked from the small blind and the player in the big blind checked to Matthew Ledger, who bet 1,100 on the button. Kornuth then check-raised to 3,900, which got a fold from the big blind and a call from Ledger.
Ledger called a 5,800 bet from Kornuth on the 9♥ turn and Kornuth fired 13,000 into the middle after the 8♠ completed the board.
Ledger shoved after a bit of thought, which was enough to put Kornuth all in for 55,600 total.
"This might take a bit, ya'll," Kornuth said, clearly struggling with his decision.
After several minutes, Kornuth said he didn't think he could fold and put in the call while tabling 6♥6♠ for a flopped set of sixes.
Ledger showed Kornuth the bad news as he turned over 7♦7♣ for a rivered straight to eliminate Kornuth early on Day 1d.
"Good luck guys," Kornuth wished his tablemates as he exited the tournament area.
Two players saw the A♦K♦9♦ flop and Alan Keating checked to his opponent who fired 2,500 into the pot of about 3,000. Keating jammed for 48,700, putting his opponent deep into the tank. After several minutes, his opponent made the call.
Alan Keating: 8♦7♦
Opponent: A♠K♥
Keating flopped a flush against the top two pair of his opponent and he was able to avoid the board pairing as the dealer ran out the 10♠ turn and the 3♣ river.
Alejandro Lococo opened to 700 in the hijack and Jorge Postigo made the call on the button.
The dealer fanned a flop of J♣10♣6♦ and Lococo check-called a bet of 1,200.
The 10♠ paired the board on the turn and Lococo check-called another bet of 4,000 from Postigo.
When the 4♠ completed the board on the river, Lococo checked for a final time. Postigo jammed for 15,400, putting Lococo in the tank. After about a minute and a half, he made the call.
Postigo instantly rolled over 6♠6♥, flopping a set of sixes and making a full house and Lococo tabled K♣J♠ as he paid the bet.
