2024 World Series of Poker
Mauro Ferreira raised to 2,500 from under the gun. Luis Faria called in middle position. John Weiss then made it 7,300 from the button. Ferreira then four-bet to 17,000. Faria qucikly folded, Weiss took some time before he called.
The flop came 3♦A♣7♥. The hand continued to be interesting as Ferreira led for 7,500. Weiss raised to 21,000 and Ferreira called.
The turn was the K♣. Ferreira led again, this time for 40,000. Weiss folded after a few seconds and Ferreira took the substantial pot.
Less than 20 tables still remain in the Paris Black section as the field continues to dwindle on Day 2.
Faraz Jaka raised all in for 6,000 from under the gun, and when it folded to the button Joshua Timler, he made the call. Both of the blinds folded leaving the two players heads up, with Jaka at risk.
Faraz Jaka: A♦4♥
Joshua Timler: 3♦3♣
Timler was ahead with his pocket threes, but Jaka did have two over cards. After the flop came 3♥J♥7♥ it improved Timler to a set but it gave Jaka a flush draw as well. The 6♦ on the turn also gave Jaka additional outs with a straight draw. That straight draw came right in on the river when the 5♠ hit the felt, to improve Jaka to a seven high straight, and secure the double up.
A player in early position opened 2,500 and the hijack called before Nicholas Peterson called in the cutoff. Dylan Lemery was on the button and put in a three-bet to 12,000. The early position player put in another raise, making it 25,000, forcing the hijack and Peterson to snap-fold, while Lemery made the call.
When the J♥8♠7♥ flop hit the felt, the early position player continued for 22,000, and Lemery matched the bet.
The dealer rolled the 3♦ on the turn, and the early position player slowed down with a check. Lemery fired 22,500, and that was enough to earn the pot.
Nathan Forrest had open-raised preflop and Oleksii Ievchenko and Gabriella Spallone called in the blinds. The K♠9♠5♦ flop then checked through before Forrest bet 3,600 on the 5♠ turn after two more checks.
Ievchenko raised to 9,000 and Spallone called. Forrest had seen enough and laid his hand down as the A♥ river to complete the board.
Ievchenko slowed down and checked, prompting Spallone to bet 21,000 chips. Ievchenko quickly called and was shown J♠7♠ by his opponent.
Ievchenko played the higher flush with his A♠8♠, however, and raked in the sizable pot.
A player in the cutoff raised to 2,500 before Max Kingstone moved all in for 22,000 on the button. Luigi Curcio called in the big blind, while the cutoff got out of the way.
Max Kingstone: A♥K♦
Luigi Curcio: Q♠Q♥
Kingstone pulled into the lead on the K♥J♦8♦ flop with a pair of kings. The 10♠ turn gave Curcio outs to a straight, but Kingstone held on through the 3♠ river to earn a double up.
Shawn Watts raised to 2,400 from early position. Sean Marshall called from the small blind.
Both players checked the K♠3♦3♥ flop to see the 4♣ come on the turn. Marshall led out for 2,000 and Watts called.
The A♣ on the river got checked through and Marshall took down the pot with 8♥8♠.
Brett Coltman opened to 2,500 from middle position and received calls from Vanessa Selbst in the small blind as well as Thomas Drivas in the big blind.
Selbst and Drivas checked following the 8♠3♦2♣ flop, prompting Coltman to continue for 3,000. Only Selbst called to send the two players to the turn.
Action checked through the 8♥ turn to the 9♠ river at which point Selbst checked once more. Coltman moved all in for his last 11,000 and, after some thought, Selbst made the call. Coltman tabled K♠K♦ for the overpair, sufficient to take down the pot, earning him a full double while putting a dent in Selbst's stack.
