The World Series of Poker (WSOP) is making a move that will change the online poker game in the US with the launch of WSOP Online, a new platform that will bring players from three states together.
Poker players in Nevada and New Jersey are already competing against each other on WSOP.com, while those in Michigan have a separate single-state site. But that is changing with the trio of states being merged together on one online poker site ahead of the 2024 WSOP. Pennsylvania's WSOP site will not be part of the shared liquidity deal.
On top of the merger news, the WSOP has announced 30 online bracelet events this summer on the new WSOP Online.
Action was caught on the river on a board of 3♣5♥7♥5♦K♥. Ayman Qutami bet from the big blind and Gerard Hills raised in early position. Qutami three-bet and Hills quickly called.
Qutami flipped over K♠K♣ for the rivered full house, and Hills mucked. He later said he folded A♥4♥ for the rivered flush.
After this, Hills lost another smaller pot and was on an extreme short stack with 16,000 chips. On his final hand he opened all in from early position and got called by the small blind and Qutami in the big blind. The flop was A♦5♦2♣, small blind checked and folded after Qutami’s bet.
There was no more betting to be done and the 4♦ turn and 2♥ river were dealt. Qutami showed A♣Q♥ for top pair, and Hills fell short with K♠6♠.

The players are now on a 15-minute break. When they return, they will play two more levels and then have a dinner break.
A large pot was developing on a board of 4♠K♣5♣4♦. On the 7♠ river, James Eng was first to act and went for a check.
Both of his opponents checked behind and Eng tabled 10♣4♣ to scoop the pot.

Bradley Carter raised on the button and Nickolas Herbrig made the call in the small blind. The flop came out with Q♣4♠Q♠. Herbrig checked, Carter bet and Herbrig called.
The turn brought a seemingly innocent 7♥ and Herbrig check-raised this time and Carter made the call.
On the J♠ river Herbrig bet and Carter called. Herbrig showed the 10♠7♠ for the flush and Carter stood up and exclaimed, "I knew you had the flush!" and mucked.

The 2024 WSOP is only five days in, but already there have been some moves and shakers in the $25K Fantasy League.
As of this writing, David Coleman is the top point earner with 42 points thanks to a sixth-place finish in Event #1: $5,000 Champions Reunion NLH Freezeout for $69,231. That’s great value for Team The Dinkers (Josh Kay & the Florida crew) as they bought him for just $3 in the draft, meaning Coleman is putting up 14 points per dollar (Pts/$).
Not far behind with 39 points is league commissioner Daniel Negreanu, though his points per dollar is a paltry 0.3 Pts/$. Negreanu, who belongs to Team DPMC (defending champs Donnie Peters and Matt Clark) finished 50th in Event #1: $5,000 Champions Reunion for $9,141 and the following day placed 16th out of 3,485 players in Event #3: $500 WSOP Kickoff NLH Freezeout for $8,541.
The best value of the draft so far is Team Lady Gaga’s (Ren Lin) Qiang Xu, who they bought for a dollar. Xu, who won a bracelet at the 2023 WSOP, has 35 points (35 pts/$.) thanks to 37th-place finish in Event #3 for $4,596.

Team Lady Gaga is out to an early lead in the league with 61 points, though Team The Dinkers are close behind with 58 points. Team DPMC sits with a respectable 39 points, while Team Baker (David “ODB” Baker) is next closest with 17 points. On the other end of the spectrum, a trio of teams sit with a single point, though Team Sepiol (Dan Sepiol) is in dead last with zero points.
James Eng raised from the cutoff, Eddie Kifarkis three bet from the small blind and Eng made the call. Kifarkis bet 8,000 on a 6♠2♦2♣ flop and was met by a call from Eng.
The turn was the 7♥ and action checked through.
The river was the 8♥. Kifarkis bet 20,000 and Eng folded.
