At the 2025 World Series of Poker, this year's schedule includes 100 bracelet events. One notable event returning this summer at Horseshoe and Paris, Las Vegas is bracelet Event #78: PokerNews Deepstack Championship (PNDC).
This also means last year's popular PokerNews Daily Deepstack Challenge is coming back, bigger and better than before!
From May 27 to June 30, players grinding the $200, $250, and $400 Daily Deepstacks tournaments at the WSOP will rack up leaderboard points. Every week, the top 10 players will be awarded a complimentary entry into the PNDC on July 1. That’s 50 seats up for grabs—10 more than last year, thanks to the additional week of action. Best of all? You can win multiple seats, meaning the more you play and perform, the better your shot at a deep WSOP run.
Level 4 has just ended, and the remaining players will now take a 20-minute break.
We caught the action just as two players were turning their cards over on a Q♠K♠A♥8♣A♠ board.
The table made some noise when Bertha Verduin exposed her cards, J♠10♠ for a Royal Flush. Daryl Thayil had also rivered a flush with 9♠8♠.
A great start for Verduin, but Thayil has since been knocked out.

Catching up with Abteen Vaziri, he tells us he has knocked out three other players already, two in one hand.
Vaziri suggested he doesn't expect his luck to last, saying, "I'm getting lucky early, maybe not a good sign".
He has one of the biggest stacks in the room, though, so it can't be that bad a sign.
Vaziri is using the PokerNews MyStack application so he can keep his friends updated, prompting a visit to his table from PokerNews to find out where his chips came from.

Blair Hinkle is poised for battle after his disappointing run in the Mystery Millions, where he was knocked out in the very last hand of the night. His last bracelet win was in the 2008 39th Annual World Series of Poker in $2,000 No-Limit Hold'em, so he is looking to upgrade his resume.

Jenyue Chiang found himself on the wrong side of a cooler early on, in a pot versus Blake Ovind.
Chiang moved all in on a Q♣4♠J♣J♥2♦ board, with two other players, Ovind included, still to act behind him.
Action folded to Ovind, who snap-called, risking his tournament life.
Jenyue Chiang: 4♦4♣
Blake Ovind: Q♥Q♠
Full house over full house, and Ovind scoops the pot.
On a nearby table, Paul Brunet was having similar issues.
In a pot versus Dinh Nguyen, Brunet had flopped top two pair on Q♦7♦4♦, all the money went in on the 3♣ turn, and Nguyen gave Brunet the bad news.
Dinh Nyugen: K♦2♦
Paul Brunet: Q♣7♥
The river A♥ wasn't enough to save Brunet as he doubled up his opponent.
