Fani Taken Out by Ford

Level 24 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Joe Ford raised to 80,000 from the button, and Rod Fani called from the big blind.

The flop came 4910 and Fani led out for 280,000, which Ford called. The turn brought the 9, and Fani moved all in. Ford called without too much thought.

Rod Fani: AKQJAll in
Joe Ford: AJ102

Fani had an open-ended straight draw and nut-flush draw, and needed to hit to stay alive. Ford had two pair and a lesser flush draw. The river bricked out, and Fani was eliminated.

Chorlian’s Set of Queens Crush Ford’s Set of Nines

Level 24 : Blinds 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

With about 330,000 already in the middle and the flop showing 498, Joe Ford checked from the big blind to Robert Chorlian, who fired a bet of 200,000. Ford quickly responded with a raise to 825,000, putting the pressure back on Chorlian.

Chorlian went deep into the tank, clearly facing a tough decision with just 695,000 behind. After more than four minutes of deliberation, he finally slid all of his chips forward. Ford called, and the cards were turned up.

Robert Chorlian: QQ1010All in
Joe Ford: 9964

Ford had flopped a set of nines to take the lead, but the 10 on the turn flipped the script, giving Chorlian a higher set. The Q on the river improved Chorlian even further to a set of queens, and he pulled in a huge double-up at a crucial point in the tournament.

Double Up for Sinishtaj

Level 23 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Rogerio Da Silva Mota opened from early position, and Tony Sinishtaj three-bet to 345,000 from the cutoff, leaving himself only 85,000 behind.

The flop came 659, and after Da Silva Mota checked, Sinishtaj moved all in. Da Silva Mota snap-called.

Tony Sinishtaj: AA65All in
Rogerio Da Silva Mota: KJ98

Sinishtaj was way ahead with his flopped two pair, and when the 6 filled him up on the turn, Da Silva Mota was drawing dead. The A came on the river, which improved Sinishtaj's hand to aces-full.

Double Knockout for Smith with Jacks

Level 23 : Blinds 15,000/30,000, 30,000 ante

Joel Gossett opened the action from early position with a raise to 60,000. Gregory Smith made the call in the hijack, and Jeremiah Bolahood followed suit from the small blind. With action on Michael Popejoy in the big blind, he moved all in for his remaining 200,000 chips. Gossett re-shoved for 395,000, putting the pressure back on Smith. After getting a count and giving it some thought, Smith eventually made the call. Bolahood stepped aside, sending his cards to the muck, and the three remaining players went to showdown.

Joel Gossett: QJ99All in
Gregory Smith: JJ77

Smith held the best hand with a pair of jacks, and the board ran out 36634, changing nothing. He scooped the pot and sent both Popejoy and Gossett to the rail, building a healthy stack in the process.
