Ten Hours Together

Level 14 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Day 1b Level 12 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Action was picked up with Haidang Nguyen tanking after Dominic Cabuhat made a 27,000 bet on the river of a 94957 board with about 70,000 in the pot.

After a few seconds Nguyen made the call. Cabuhat tabled A9 for trips. As the chips were being shipped to Cabuhat, Nguyen said it was the first time Cabuhat had it. Pretending to be hurt by what was said, Cabuhat replied, "The first time I ever had it? I've been with you for ten hours."

Both smiling they continued their heads-up match with Cabuhat ultimately winning.

Four Way Madness in the Shootout

Level 14 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Andrew Kim
Andrew Kim

Despite the fact that every other table here in the Paris ballroom is down to two-handed play, nobody on table #190 had plans of going to bed any time soon, as four players still have chips in front of them in level 11.

With blinds at 1,000/2,500 with a 2,500 big blind ante, Zachary Lipeles, Andrew Kim, Tzur Levy, and Hang Xu were all refusing to be sent home, as they each held around 25% of chips left on the table. However, one hand changed everything, as Lipeles Kim and Levy abandoned their conservative playing style and got all their chips into the middle before a flop was dealt.

Zachary Lipeles: A10 All in
Tzur Levy: AQ All in
Andrew Kim: A7

The 9K283 board came safe for Levy, leaving him with a big stack, Kim with a little stack, and Lipeles with no stack.

In the following two hands, Kim doubled through Xu, then bust to Levy, leaving him a considerable chip leader as we go heads-up.

Stay tuned tomorrow for more updates.

Choffardet Wins at Table #218

Level 14 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Day 1b Level 8 600/1200, 1200 ante

Table #210 was one of the first tables that went to a heads-up match but only reached a winner after four levels with other tables finishing sooner than they did.

The final hand happened with Alex Kim betting 3,000 on the button and getting raised all-in by Mathieu Choffardet. With only about 24,000 behind, Kim made the call.

Alex Kim: AQ All in
Mathieu Choffardet: 1010

Kim needed one of his overcards to hit to stay longer in the tournament and based on what has happened between these two players for the past four hours, it wasn't impossible. But the board ran 73399 finally ending their long one-on-one battle in Choffardet's favor.

Choffardet was relating how the table was full of aggressive players that made them go to heads-up early in the tournament but once two were left, the chips kept changing hands between them.

"He had a big lead at the start but I had a lot of good spots where I grinded him. I had the nuts all the time so it was easy. I really like this format and I'm looking forward to the next round. "

Four Remain in Day 1a

Level 14 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante
Garry Gates
Garry Gates

As Day 1a of the only shootout tournament of this year's WSOP draws to a close, four players remain across two tables, with the winner of each making it through to a "table of champions" in Day 2 tomorrow.

The first matchup has Craig Mason taking on Corey Dodd. The two have been heads-up for over two hours, and things could not be closer, as Dodd holds 115,000 chips to Mason's 110,000.

On the other table, there is a slightly larger chip imbalance between Kevin Kent and Garry Gates, with the latter on 92,500 chips to Kent's 132,500.

The average stack is at 20 big blinds; a number that will only decrease as time goes on, so these players have to do everything in their power to take the advantage as soon as possible.

Leonard Doubles Up to Continue Heads Up Play

Level 14 : Blinds 3,000/6,000, 6,000 ante

Day 1b Level 7 500/1,000, 1000 ante

Action was picked up with John Juanda betting 50,000 on the flop of 4810 with around 20,000 in the pot. The bet put his heads-up opponent, Edward Leonard, all in, and Leonard called.

Edward Leonard: Q10 All in
John Juanda: QJ

Juanda had a flush draw but Leonard already hit the board with top pair. The runout K8 didn't help Juanda at all. The dealer shipped the chips towards Leonard's direction for a double up.
