Nguyen Makes Day 2

Level 11 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante

2016 WSOP Main Event Champion Qui Nguyen triumphed in a heads-up battle against poker vlogger Gary Blackwood. Blackwood was already on the ropes as he shoved his remaining 17,500 chips, good for just under nine big blinds. Nguyen postured, unsure whether to make the call, and ended up doing so, which would leave him with 95 big blinds, should he lose.

Gary Blackwood: Q8 All in
Qui Nguyen: Q3

"Trap, trap" announced Nguyen, and both players laughed, seemingly knowing exactly what was about to come.

The 537 flop instantly put Nguyen into the lead, and Blackwood did not improve on either the A turn or 2 river.

Despite efforts from Jonathan Tamayo, Martin Jacobson, Ryan Riess, and Joe Cada, Nguyen was the only previous Main Event winner to bag up for Day 2.

Stamm - Superstar of the Series

Level 11 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
David Stamm
David Stamm

Martin Kabrhel was at it again, ranting and raving about his new found prodigy. After getting eliminated in Event #20: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em SHOOTOUT Flight A, Kabrhel entered Flight B, entertaining (or bothering) the players around him.

Kabrhel claimed David Stamm made "the call of the summer." We were told by John Ripnick, who was at the table, that it all started with a hand where Stamm, remained unfazed despite the relentless aggression of Antonio Galiana on a draw. On the river, Galian placed the ultimate pressure by shoving all-in on a board of Ax10x3x6xKx. Stamm made a hero call with king-queen offsuit to catch Galiana's bluff.

Since then, Kabrhel has declared Stamm to be the superstar of the series telling anyone and everyone who's willing to listen.

Two Champions Up for the Chase for their Second WSOP Golden Bracelet

Level 11 : Blinds 1,000/2,500, 2,500 ante
Daniel Sepiol
Daniel Sepiol

2024 World Series of Poker Shootout Champion Daniel Sepiol has been spotted in Flight B to defend his title and clinch another bracelet. While Robert Natividad, last year's runner up, is in Flight A moving closer to qualifying for Day 2.

In a major upset, Natividad had a seventeen-to-one chip advantage during heads-up last year, almost certain that he'd be able to take home his first bracelet but due to a twist of fate, Sepiol was able to bridge that gap to eventually be the last man standing.

It would definitely be something to see these two players clash once again in the same event.

Another defending champion is Faraz Jaka who won the shootout event in 2023 and is also looking to capture his second bracelet in the same event.
