Roman Building Back

Level 19 : Limits 12,000/24,000, 0 ante

Christopher Roman raised in the hijack and on the button, Matthew Kelley three-bet, which saw Roman call.

Roman drew one on the first draw while Kelley stood pat, which saw Roman check-call a bet from Kelley.

On the second draw, Roman drew one while Kelley stood pat with action checking through.

The final draw saw both players stand pat, which saw Roman bet and Kelley call.

"Nine," said Roman as he turned over 9642 for a nine badugi, which was good to take down the pot.

Baker Shows Nut Three-Card

Level 19 : Limits 12,000/24,000, 0 ante

Anthony Ribeiro raised in the cutoff. David "ODB" Baker called in the small blind and drew two cards, with Ribeiro following suit. Baker then check-called Ribeiro's bet before drawing two cards again.

This time, Ribeiro only needed one card, and he bet once more after a second check by Baker. Baker called, drawing one card on the final draw, and Ribeiro drew his final card as well.

Baker then led out and tabled 832A after Ribeiro called. The best possible three-card hand won him the pot when Ribeiro mucked his cards.

Schreiber Calls Wrongly

Level 19 : Limits 12,000/24,000, 0 ante

Jun Weng raised under the gun. It folded to Matthew Schreiber in the big blind, who called and drew two cards. Weng stood pat, betting after the draw after Shreiber had checked.

Schreiber called, taking only one card on the second draw. He check-called another bet by Weng before the same drawing pattern repeated itself.

Schreiber checked after the final draw, being met with a final bet by Weng.

"Are you snowing me? I can beat four spades, do you have four spades in your hand?" Schreiber asked Weng. Without getting a reply, he tossed in a call.

Weng tabled 9352 for a badugi, and Schreiber sent his cards to the muck.

"I just made the worst call in history and now I'm on monkey tilt," Schreiber dryly noted as he saw the pot being shipped to his neighbor.

Wantman Wins It Three-Way

Level 18 : Limits 10,000/20,000, 0 ante

James Newberry open-raised in the cutoff, with Carl Vaillancourt and Matthew Wantman calling in the blinds.

Vaillancourt changed two cards, Wantman wanted one new one, and Newberry took two. After Vaillancourt checked, Wantman bet and received two calls.

Vaillancourt and Newberry still needed two cards each, but this time Wantman stood pat in between. Wantman fired another bet after the second draw. Only Vaillancourt came along to the final draw, where he stood pat.

Wantman did not change course and kept the same cards. He tossed in one more bet after the draw, and Vaillancourt quickly check-called to showdown.

Wantman showed down 7654 for the worst seven-badugi, enough to take the pot as Vaillancourt quickly added his cards to the muck.

Has This Unsung Poker Star Been the Top WSOP Performer Since 2015?

Level 18 : Limits 10,000/20,000, 0 ante
Poker Pro
Poker Pro

Only one player has won seven World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets in the past 10 years of live WSOP events, excluding the COVID year (2020). No, it isn't Shaun Deeb, nor is it Jeremy Ausmus or Phil Hellmuth.

This poker pro doesn't get the mainstream attention he probably deserves. While Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu, and Phil Ivey get most of the headlines, this individual often flies under the radar. But he's been so dominant at the WSOP for years that the poker world — not just the hardcore crowd — should be made aware of his historic accomplishments.
