Josef Gulas opened from middle position to 105,000 and Mike Matusow three-bet in the cutoff to 265,000. When it got back to Gulas, he called.
The flop came 9♠6♥Q♠ and after Gulas tapped the table, Matusow bet 250,000. Gulas folded and Matusow showed K♠K♦ to the table.
Not long after that, Matusow opened and checked down the board of Q♠5♦8♦3♥9♥. He showed A♦K♥ at showdown, which was good for the pot as his opponent mucked.
Anthony March raised from under the gun to 180,000 and Jun Liu re-raised to 825,000, leaving himself with 50,000 behind. March said "call" and was about to flip his cards assuming Liu was all in, when the table stopped him and said "hold your cards, he's not call in".
Before the dealer had the chance to deal the flop, March said "I am all in." and he moved his chips into the middle.
The 10♦K♠K♦ flop was dealt and Liu called for his remaining 50,000.
Jun Liu: 10♠10♥
Anthony March: A♥Q♥
Liu had hit a set on the flop, and March didn't improve enough on the 5♣ turn or Q♣ river. March left the hand with 280,000.
March was in the big blind in the next hand and got his remaining chips in against Carmino Argiero who was sitting under the gun.
Anthony March: 9♥9♣
Carmino Argiero: Q♠Q♣
The dealer peeled the Q♦2♣9♦ flop, and the players gasped at the table, with both players having flopped a set.
March wasn't saved on the 4♥, J♥ runout and he was eliminated in 23rd place.
David Stamm raised to 100,000 from middle position, and Greg Henry shoved for 315,000. Stamm made the call.
Greg Henry: 2♣2♦
David Stamm: A♣8♣
The J♠4♠6♠ flop didn't change anything, but the A♠ turn sent Stamm into the lead. Henry had a single out to scoop, but had a few live outs to a chop. The 8♦ river was not one of them, as he was beaten by Stamm's two pair.
Action folded all the way round to Carmino Argiero on the button, who raised it up to 125,000. The small blind folded, and Stuart Taylor shoved in the big blind. Argiero snapped him off.
Stuart Taylor: A♣7♣
Carmino Argiero: A♠A♦
Taylor needed a lot of help, which didn't come on the 3♠8♠6♣ flop. He improved to an open ender on the 9♥ turn, but couldn't get there, as the J♦ sent him to the rail.
Curt Kohlberg opened the button to 100,000 and Ramana Epparla called in the small blind. Carmino Argiero also called from the big blind.
On the 3♦5♦2♥ flop, all three checked to the A♥ turn, where Epparla led out for 125,000. Argiero then raised to 500,000, Kohlberg folded, and Epparla called.
An 8♣ hit the river and before Epparla could make an action, Argiero slid out a bet.
"It's my action," said Epparla. "You're too excited," he added.
"I thought you checked," replied Argiero. Epparla did eventually check, Argiero bet 500,000, and Epparla folded.
Champie Douglas raised on the button to 125,000, Ron West called in the big blind.
The flop came 4♣5♠2♥, Douglas put the rest of his 420,000 into the middle, West called.
Champie Douglas: K♦K♥
Ron West: A♥2♦
Brutal turn for Douglas as it came 2♣ and the 10♠ was dealt on the river.
