Lonis Continues to Chip Up

Jesse Lonis has been on quite a tournament run over the past few years, and he's looking to keep that up in this event. He raised to 42,000 in this hand, and was met by a call from Jacob Hamed on the button and Isaac Haxton in the big blind.

On the A♦Q♥8♣ flop, Haxton checked and Lonis bet 74,000. Hamed called, and Haxton got out of the way.

The action went check, check on the Q♦ turn. The 7♦ fell on the river, and Lonis bet 29,000. Hamed called, and Lonis showed K♠J♠9♦8♦ for a flush, and Hamed mucked.

The hand began when Phil Ivey limped from early position. Thomas Taylor followed with a limp from the hijack, and Erick Lindgren limped from the small blind. Cliff Josephy checked his option from the big blind to create a four-way pot.

The table checked around to Taylor on the Q♠8♥10♥ flop. Taylor chose to bet 40,000, which led to folds from Lindgren and Josephy. Ivey was not done with the hand and stuck around with a call.

Ivey checked the 6♠ turn, which led to a bet of 135,000 from Taylor. Ivey once again called to send both to a river.

Ivey bet 145,000 when the 8♣ hit the river. Taylor gave it some thought before he folded awarding the pot to Ivey.

Picking up the action on the turn with the board reading 8♣7♥4♥5♣ and over 100,000 in the middle, three players were still active in the hand. Rob Hollink was first to act and threw in a bet of 75,000 which both Daniel Geeng and Michael Duek both called.

The river was the 9♠ and Hollink slowed down with a check. Geeng counted out a bet of 260,000 and Duek just called, hoping to attract Hollink into the pot but he opted to fold. Geeng tabled K♣J♦10♣7♦ for the nut straight and Duek held Q♥J♠10♦8♥ for the same straight to chop the pot.

Artem Maksimov raised in early position to 30,000. The next player to act called, which prompted Jeffrey Hakim to follow suit before the big blind joined in, too.

The four players went to a flop of 5♥6♥5♣ and action checked through.

The turn J♣ was good enough for Maskimov to pick up the aggression again, betting 45,000. Hakim was the only player to call.

The river 10♠ didn't slow Maskimov down, this time putting out a bet of 155,000. Hakim really wasn't sure what to do, using four time banks before counting out the chips and calling.

Maskimov turned over A♣A♥10♣8♥, for two pair, and Hakim mucked his cards face down.

Negeranu bet 25,000 on the 10♥2♦2♠ flop and was called by Andrade.

Both players checked down on the Q♠ and 5♣ river. Andrade shoewd A♣K♠Q♥5♦ for two pair, which was good as Negreanu mucked his hand.

On the last hand before the break, Martin Kabrhel and David Peters were heads-up on a flop of 9♣5♥4♦. Kabrhel led out with a bet in the small blind and Peters ripped all in for around 70,000.

"Media! Where's the media?!" Kabrhel exclaimed. "It's time to say goodbye to David. Revenge of the Sith!" Kabrhel eventually called and the cards were tabled.

Martin Kabrhel: Q♠Q♣4♠4♥

"Queen!" Kabrhel shouted even though he was already in the lead. The J♦ and 3♠ completed the board and Kabrhel's set of fours was good enough to eliminate Peters.
