Matthew Lambrecht of Team Lambrecht made it 80,000 from the cutoff and Evan Zhang of Team Shteyman shoved for 275,000 on the button. When it got back to Lambrecht, he thought for a while before he flicked in the call.
Evan Zhang: 9♥9♦
Matthew Lambrecht: A♥10♣
Zhang was in a flip and didn't get off to a great start as the 5♠7♥A♣ flop gave Lambrecht top pair. No nines appeared on the 3♠5♦ runout, which meant Team Shteyman hit the rail.
Left with fumes following two consecutive brutal rivers, Team Gunness made a last-ditch swap, hoping that Paul Gunness could overcome the run-bad that his teammate Nicholas Marchington had suffered. He found himself all in from under the gun for his last 30,000 chips, good for just three-quarters of a big blind.
Michael Hubbard of Team Hubbard shoved from the button, prompting, "Protection!" shouts from Gunness.
Paul Gunness: 8♦3♣
Michael Hubbard: A♥7♠
All hope went out the window on the J♣A♦6♥ as Hubbard's pair had Gunness all but drawing dead. The 7♦K♠ runout sealed his team's fate, as they went out with a smile.
Michael Hubbard of Team Hubbard moved all in for 560,000 in early position and Nick Marchington of Team Gunness reshoved from the small blind.
Michael Hubbard: A♣10♣
Nick Marchington: A♠K♣
The A♦J♣7♣ flop and 2♠ turn were safe for the Brits but the 10♥ on the river hit like a dagger. Marchington was left with 260,000 after the hand.
In the next hand, Jinny Walker of Team Jenkins shoved all in for 225,000 from early position. Marchington, now on the button, shoved all in for 255,000 total and had Walker slightly covered.
Jinny Walker: Q♥J♣
Nick Marchington: A♣8♣
Marchington's teammate Paul Gunness ran to the table to observe the action. The A♠10♣5♥ flop paired up Marchington's ace and Gunness cheered. The 5♦ on the turn was safe, but once again, a brutal river hit as the K♦ fell to give Walker a straight.
"Noooo!" Gunness exclaimed. "Nick, what did you do this morning? Did you f*cking kill somebody?" he asked, exasperated.
"Come on, tag me in!" he eagerly said, and Marchington obliged. Gunness has to try and make a comeback from 30,000 in chips.
Jonathan Scott from Team Novello open-shoved around 800,000 from middle position and action folded to Corey Paggeot of Team Kerstetter in the big blind. He called all in for 670,000 total.
Corey Paggeot: A♥Q♥
Jonathan Scott: K♦K♣
The flop was K♥J♣7♣ and an animated Scott jumped out of his seat.
"Flopped a set, let's f*cking go!" he shouted.
The turn brought the J♠ and Scott got even more lively.
"Full house, baby, let's f*cking go!" he yelled even louder.
The meaningless 5♠ hit the river and Paggeot made his way to the rail in 23rd place.
Takuma Moriguchi of Team Moriguchi had his last 200,000 in the middle preflop and was put at risk by Conor Hannan of Team Hannan.
Takuma Moriguchi: A♣Q♠
Conor Hannan: K♥Q♥
Moriguchi was in the lead and in a dominating position, and stayed ahead through the 3♥10♣5♦ flop. However, the K♣ on the turn gave Hannan top pair. Only an ace on the river could save Team Moriguchi, but the 3♣ on the river wasn't what they needed.
Samy Boujmala of Team Boujmala raised from middle position and Louis Seguin of Team Seguin shoved around 850,000 from the cutoff. When it got back to Boujmala, he called.
Louis Seguin: A♠J♠
Samy Boujmala: A♣K♥
Seguin was already on his feet in anticipation of his departure, and the 6♣5♠8♥ flop didn't offer much hope. A 9♥ on the turn left him with one shot at three outs, but the K♣ river wasn't what he needed, leaving him out in 25th.
Following an open from Brent Jenkins of Team Jenkins, Paul Gunness of Team Gunness shoved his remaining 410,000 into the middle. After some thought, Jenkins made the call.
Paul Gunness: A♠J♠
Brent Jenkins: A♦10♦
"Hold, Baby!" shouted Gunness, which he did as the board ran out K♥A♥7♥3♦5♦.
Cody Daniels of Team Daniels raised to 60,000 on the button, and Corey Paggeot of Team Kerstetter three-bet enough from the big blind to put Daniels to a decision for his tournament life.
Daniels, playing 295,000 total, took the better part of two minutes before calling it off.
Cody Daniels: K♣8♦
Corey Paggeot: K♥Q♣
Daniels hit the eight he needed on the K♦8♠5♠ flop and doubled through the 2022 runners-up after the board ran out J♣10♠.
