Two Important Pots for Kyte

Level 15

Pot-Limit Omaha

Mike Matusow raised from the cutoff and the short-stacked Jon Kyte called from the big blind.

Kyte led out for 95,000 on the Q87 flop and called off the rest of his stack after Matusow raised to put the Norwegian at-risk.

"I hope you don't have hearts," said Kyte. "I don't," replied Matusow

Jon Kyte: A622 All in
Mike Matusow: J1098

Matusow may not have had hearts but he had a pair of eights to go along with his wrap to have the best hand on the flop. Kyte, with a flush draw, needed a heart or a deuce to pull ahead.

The 4 turn locked up the hand for Kyte before the 8 completed the board.

The following hand, Ali Eslami raised to 35,000 from under the gun. Christian Roberts called from the cutoff and Kyte came along from the small blind.

The KQ5 flop checked through to the 7 turn. Kyte led out for 135,000 and recieved two quick folds.

Blowup Pending? Hellmuth Drops Four Hands in Quick Succession

Level 15
Phil Hellmuth
Phil Hellmuth

No Limit Hold'em

Phil Hellmuth opened to 40,000 from the hijack and Ben Lamb defended his big blind. The 972 flop checked through to the 3 turn. Hellmuth folded to a bet of 65,000.

Hellmuth and Lamb tangled once again the hand after, with around 200,000 in the middle on the 73109 board. Both players checked on the turn, bringing in the 4 river. Lamb led out for 130,000 which frustrated Hellmuth, who threw his hand into the muck.

In a third successive hand, Hellmuth switched things up, limping in from under the gun. Albert Daher, next to act, raised to 60,000. The table folded before Hellmuth called.

Hellmuth check in the dark before the dealer put out the K6J flop. Hellmuth check-called a bet of 30,000.

He then rose out of his chair once Daher bet 150,000 on the A turn. A blow up looked like it was coming, but instead he frustatingly flipped over 77 and sent his cards into the muck.

Two hands later, Hellmuth limped in from the small blind and Daher checked his option in the big blind. Hellmuth check-folded to a bet of 25,000 on the JJ3 flop.
