Tedla's River Bet Takes the Pot

After action was checked to him in a heads-up match, Berkeley Yuan fired 55,000 into a pot of 100,000 on a flop of 6♣3♠7♦. Meraf Tedla called to see the turn.

The dealer peeled the turn 4♣ and both players checked. On the river 3♥, Tedla took the initiative and shot out 150,000 making Yuan stare at him a bit. Yuan gave up his hand after a few seconds and the pot to Tedla.

Chris Moneymaker Eliminated Early from 2025 WSOP Main Event

Chris Moneymaker’s Main Event run has come to an early end, for this year at least, after a dramatic full-house-over-full-house clash on Day 1a.

Moneymaker got involved in a deep river spot and ultimately made the call, but ran straight into a cooler. It's a tough exit for the 2003 WSOP Main Event champion.

Heads up and in middle position, Luke Tatum bet 30,000 on a flop of Q♠J♦J♠ and a pot of around 130,000. Jianqiang Yu decided to stay on to see the next card with a call.

The turn 8♦ and Tatum continued the pressure with 100,000 which was enough to push Yu out of the hand.

"Uh oh," said Gini as he saw a king in the window, but the full flop proved that a Gini always does things in threes, as he flopped a set on 3♠Q♦K♥. Turner's backdoor draws didn't come in on the 8♦4♣ runout, as his adversary stayed alive in the Deepstack.

Stephen Silverman open-jammed for around 110,000 and got a single call from Thomas Hill in the big blind, who had him covered.

Hill saw a seven on the 5♠7♥4♥ flop, but Silverman picked up a queen on the Q♦ turn.

The A♠ river didn't change anything and Silverman survived.

Alex Todd shoved all in and Rudy Cervantes was deciding whether he should make the call for all of his remaining 300,000 chips.

The board read K♠3♠Q♦4♦J♠, with Todd firing the big bet from the hijack. Cervantes had led the betting until the river.

Cervantes made the call and got the bad news. Todd, who claimed he had gone a full two hours without winning a hand, showed 8♠6♠, hitting the flush on the river.

On his way out, Cervantes flashed K♦10♠.

On the first hand, Kelly Andrews called all in from early position for 250,000 after Pineault three-bet all in with his massive stack from the big blind.

Shane Luhr opened to 55,000 under the gun and when action folded to the cutoff, Diego Poncedeleonsilva shoved all in for around 350,000, sending Luhr to the tank.

After some time, Luhr looked up at ceiling and said, "Okay, God," put his hands together as if in prayer, then made the call.

The board ran 8♥3♥4♥J♥7♥. With a flush on the board, Poncedeleonsilva stayed longer, hoping for a chop. But Luhr's five of hearts played, eliminating Poncedeleonsilva.

Poncedeleonsilva, visibly frustrated, left the table in a rush, as Luhr scooped the pot and thanked God.
