Jon Turner

Robert Akpik opened to 2,000 from middle position and Jon Turner three-bet to 6,700 from the hijack. It was folded back around to Akpik, who called.

Akpik check-called a 5,200 bet from Tuner on the 848 flop and then both players checked on the A turn.

Akpik checked a final time on the Q river and Turner cut out a bet of 8,800 and placed it into the middle. Akpik re-checked his hole cards and then folded — conceding the pot to Turner.

Safian Doubles Through Vertes

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

With the flop showing K83, Jeffrey Vertes had bet 2,000 and Manuel Safian in the big blind check-jammed for 18,100. That sent Vertes into the tank for most of his short stack and he eventually called.

Manuel Safian: 75 All in
Jeffrey Vertes: AQ

The nut flush draw of Vertes bricked on the 10 turn and 8 river, and the last eight blinds he had left over vanished shortly after.

Gonzaga Continues his Run

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Terry Gonzaga was all-in for 13,000 and got one customer, Julien Sitbon in the big blind, putting him at risk.

Terry Gonzaga: JJ All in
Julien Sitbon: AK

Sitbon needed his overcards to hit the board to take the lead but there was no ace or king on the flop 5104. Gonzaga was looking at a potential double up when the J came improving his hand further.

With a full house on the river 4, his victory was cemented, ensuring that he continued his main event run.

Su Beats Wang

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Timothy Su opened to 2,200 from the hijack and in the big blind Nicholas Wang called.

The flop rolled out 1093 and Wang check-called a bet of 1,900 from Su.

On the turn A, Wang checked a second time over to Su who bet 4,000 and Wang called.

Both players checked the river 9 to see Wang turn over 44 for nines up. It was no good against Su who turned over Q10 for tens up and the 8th place finisher from the 2019 WSOP Main Event took down the pot.

McIlvain Holds to Eliminate Haynes

Level 7 : Blinds 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Jason Somerville kicked the action off by limping in from middle position. Matthew Haynes responded from the cutoff by moving all in for 15,100. Action then folded to Andrew McIlvain in the small blind, who called, before Somerville got out of the way.

Matthew Haynes: A7 All in
Andrew McIlvain: 1010

There wasn't much help on the flop for Haynes, short of a backdoor flush draw when the dealer spread J102.

That door slammed shut when the 2 turn guaranteed Haynes' elimination from the event before the dealer had even flipped over the Q river.
