Wheeler Doubles to Leave Alexandre on Fumes

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Jason Wheeler
Jason Wheeler

Daniel Negreanu opened to 6,000 from early position and Jean-Francois Alexandre called from the cutoff. Jason Wheeler three-bet to 21,000 from the button and Negreanu folded 97. Alexandre four-bet shoved, slightly covering Wheeler who started the hand with 123,500. Wheeler snap-called and was at risk.

Jason Wheeler: KK All in
Jean-Francois Alexandre: JJ

Wheeler's kings held up on the 49K310 runout and he doubled up, leaving Alexandre with just over one big blind. Alexandre was eliminated shortly afterward.

[Removed:549] and Gandhi Play a Big Flip

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Shishir Gandhi opened up to 7,000 from early position and [Removed:548] three-bet the cutoff to 24,000. When it got back to Gandhi, he put in a four-bet to 55,000. [Removed:549] didn't need too long to think before he shoved for 233,000, which gave Gandhi a tough decision.

After confirming the count, Gandhi counted out his own stack and had a little over 320,000 in front of him. A few moments later, he announced a call.

[Removed:548]: AK All in
Shishir Gandhi: QQ

Gandhi had the edge with his pocket queens, but had to fade the dreaded overcards to in the pot, and if he did so, he would have heaps in front of him. [Removed:549] took a sip of coffee then watched the dealer put out a flop of 948, which wasn't great news for the Austrian player.

However, what was great news for [Removed:549] was seeing the A land on the turn, which gave him top pair and left him one card away from a huge double-up. No drama arrived on the 5 river, and Gandhi was forced to cough up the chips and send them across the table.

Queen-High Good for Sande

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Calvin Anderson raised in the cutoff and Leonard Sande defended in the big blind.

Sande checked on the flop of 56A and Anderson continued for 4,000. Sande called. Sande checked again on the K turn and Anderson checked back.

Both players checked again on the 3 turn and Sande announced queen-high, which was good as he showed QJ to win the pot as Anderson mucked.

Arthur Closing in on Seven Figures

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Riva Arthur
Riva Arthur

Riva Arthur came in with a raise from under the gun to 6,000 with Charles Lee calling from the next seat and Harold Evans calling out of the hijack.

Arthur continued with a bet of 11,000 on the QK2 flop. Lee folded, but Evans quickly called.

The 6 appeared on the turn and Arthur bet again, this time for 16,000. Evans immediately called.

When the 6 came on the river, Arthur tossed out a bet of 30,000. Evans looked back at his cards and then made the call for about half of his remaining chips. Arthur turned over K8 for a flush, and Evans had to muck.

Afriat Irritated at Pace of Play

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Alex Gelinski raised to 6,000 and Thomas Eychenne three-bet to 22,500 from the small blind. Diego Vazsorgatto was in the big blind and was thinking about his decision.

"Every hand you have to tank for 20 minutes," piped up Eric Afriat apropos of nothing. Eventually Vazsorgatto called and Gelinski got out the way.

Eychenne check-called 15,000 on the AK4 flop and the turn was the 8. Both players checked and the 8 completed the board. Eychenne then placed enough chips in front of him to put Vazsorgatto all in, who once again thought over his decision.

Vazsorgatto eventually folded, setting off Afriat again.

"Can you play a little faster?" he asked Afriat, even though Vazsorgatto had just been contemplating a call for his tournament life.

"I don't think anyone is taking too long," said tablemate Jose Latorremarina, not doing much to dissuade Afriat's apparent discontent with proceedings.

Lee Goes Rabut Hunting

Level 12 : Blinds 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

The action was joined with roughly 17,000 chips in the middle with Min-Sung Lee and Eric Rabut competing for it.

A flop of 466 had already been dealt, and Rabut had checked from the small blind. Lee, playing from the hijack, continued with a bet of 12,500 before seeing Rabut check-raise all in for 67,500.

After taking a minute or so to think, Lee made the call, putting Rabut at risk.

Eric Rabut: 77 All in
Min-Sung Lee: 99

There was no saving grace for Rabut on the K turn or 3 river, leaving him to say his goodbyes and exit the tournament area.
