Ponce Goes Deep into the Tank

Level 19 : Blinds 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante
Diego Ponce
Diego Ponce

Daniele Primerano kicked the action off with a raise in early position to 30,000, and the player to his immediate left called. Action was then on Diego Ponce in the cutoff, who put in a three-bet to 175,000.

When play folded back to Primerano, he moved all in for 1,375,000. The player to his left folded, but Ponce wasn't so quick to muck his hand.

Ponce went deep into the tank. A few minutes passed by, then a few more minutes. He then employed some table talk, trying to get more information.

"Are you nervous?" he asked Primerano.

"It's a big pot,” replied Primerano, "A little bit [nervous].” "In any case, I would prefer you fold,” continued Primerano.

Armed with precious little extra information, Ponce returned to trying to figure out what to do. After a couple more minutes passed, and with a painstaking look on his face, he elected to fold.

Clee Silences Kassouf... Almost

Level 19 : Blinds 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante
Will Kassouf
Will Kassouf

Will Kassouf made it 40,000 from the hijack before Terence Clee three-bet to 70,000 out of the big blind.

Perplexed by the small three-bet, Kassouf retorically asked Clee: "Why so small, why would you raise so small when you know I'm calling?" In the end, Kassouf called.

Before the flop was dealt Clee announced a check in the dark. Kassouf, was now even more baffled by the dark check, opted to check behind on the 1062 flop, not before saying "As I'm a gentleman, I'll check as well.”

Clee led out for 70,000 when the 8 appeared on the turn. Kassouf mulled it over for quite some time before folding, and asking Clee to show one card. Clee responded and said to Kassouf: "If you show both, I'll show both".

Kassouf flipped over KQ for king-high, prompting Clee to say: "Good fold, good fold" and turn over 73 for just a complete airball with seven-high.

The whole table erupted in laughter and applause at Clee's bluff, including Kassouf, who admitted he was impressed by the play and the tabletalk.

Lopes Galindo showed KQ for top pair, but Baghdalian had turned a set holding 77. Lopes Galindo was already drawing dead and the 2 river was a mere formality as he was sent to the rail.

Andres Gonzalez, the lone remaining member of last year's final table still in the field, is also at this table.

Eisenberg Can't Look, Shao Eliminated

Level 19 : Blinds 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante
Lara Eisenberg
Lara Eisenberg

The action began with a raise from early position to 35,000. Bob Shao then moved all in for 160,000, a couple of seats over. Lara Eisenberg was next to act, and chose to call the all-in, before Sam Chartier cold four-bet from the big blind to 400,000.

The original raiser folded, and the action was back on Eisenberg. She looked tortured, trying to decide what to do, she counted and recounted her stack. Three or four minutes passed before she moved all in, a five-bet to 535,000. Chartier made the call, and the cards were flipped over.

Bob Shao: AQ All in
Lara Eisenberg: JJ All in
Samuel Chartier: AK

Eisenberg took a few steps away from the table and faced the other direction, unable to watch the runout.

The dealer spread out a 624 flop, followed by a 7 turn and a 9 river. A player not involved in the hand let Eisenberg know it was good news, and she could turn around.

As the pot was being tidied and sent in the direction of Eisenberg, Kenny Hallaert, also at the table, joked, "You tanked so long the other guy [Shao] made a pay jump.”

Guy Leathley
Guy Leathley

The action was picked up with the board fully spread 86749 and around 900,000 already piled in the middle.

Guy Leathley, first to act from middle position, led out for 90,000, leaving the pressure on Leon Sturm in the cutoff. Sturm took his time, considered his options, but ultimately flicked in the call.

Leathley tabled JJ for an overpair, and that was enough, Sturm sent his cards into the muck, conceding the sizeable pot to Leathley.
