Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Heads-up, Anthony Ruberto, in the big blind, and Jamie Walden, on the button, checked a board of A47K and a pot of around 150,000.

Ruberto led on the river of 2 with a bet of 113,000. Walden called. Ruberto tabled K7 for a turned two pair while Walden showed K2 for the lower two pair on the river.

Joiner Tries to Bet Pollak Off Aces

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Hugh Joiner and Craig Pollak built a pot of around 120,000 as they went heads-up to the QQ9 flop. Pollak then bet 40,000 in early position, and Joiner called in the big blind.

Both players checked the K turn. Joiner then led out for 90,000 on the 6 river, and Pollak quickly called.

Joiner showed 55, but Pollak had AA to win the pot.

Shields Down

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Andro Scarpa raised in the cutoff to 16,000, and directly to his left, Tyler Shields moved all in for 40,000. The blinds got out of the way, and Scarpa made the call.

The hands were kept face down as the tournament is on the bubble. Once the floor arrived to oversee and announce the hands and runout, the players revealed their holdings.

Tyler Shields : QQ All in
Andro Scarpa: A6

It was instant heartache for Shields, as the window card immediately paired his opponent as the flop came down A105.

The 6 turn gave Shields hope, as he now had a flush draw. However, the 7 was no help and sealed Shields' fate, sending him to the rail just a handful of places from the money.

Mariwalla Doubles Through Boivin

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Rohit Mariwalla shoved for his last 149,000 from middle position and was called by Thomas Boivin in the cutoff to be put at risk.

Rohit Mariwalla: AJAll in
Thomas Boivin: KJ

The AJ5 flop left Mariwalla in commanding shape with top two pair, and the 9 turn left Boivin drawing dead.

An irrelevant 7 completed the board and Mariwalla was awarded the double as hand-for-hand play continues.

Taheri Made a Big Fold on Bubble Time

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

During bubble time, Payman Taheri opened with 17,000 and got a three-bet from Ronald Ong on the button. Taheri took a few seconds to consider his options before making the call.

The dealer flopped AQQ and both players checked. Taheri checked the turn K. Ong resumed action with a 25,000 bet. Taheri called once again.

Taheri checked the river 8 and Ong shoved all in for around 350,000. Taheri groaned in frustration, visibly uncertain of what to do. He counted his remaining chips, which amounted to around 70,000.

After a few seconds, he showed his cards while still holding them to show A10 for the nut flush then threw them in the muck. The whole table begged Ong to show his hand.

He spun his cards around to show KxQx for a full house.

Yanagida Snaps Off Elias to Double

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

Darren Elias moved all in from the small blind and Goh Yanagida snap-called for 225,000 in the big blind.

"He took one second," a player at the table said to a friend on the rail.

"You're in trouble, buddy," the railbird said to Elias.

Goh Yanagida: AA All in
Darren Elias: QJ

Elias was, indeed, in trouble as Yanagida turned over two aces. The 97358 board provided no help to Elias and Yanagida doubled up.

Landreth Doubles with Aces

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante

The very first hand to be played out during the hand-for-hand process saw Johnny Landreth open to 16,000 from under the gun. Kohei Arai shoved all in as the big stack in the big blind and Landreth quickly called off his stack of 120,000.

Johnny Landreth: AAAll in
Kohei Arai: AK

The flop came 662 and Landreth was in a prime position to double up with his pocket aces. The 5 on the turn locked it up for Landreth and the K on the river was just a formality.

Jewell Wisely Gives Up on the Bluff

Level 16 : Blinds 4,000/8,000, 8,000 ante
Kurt Jewell
Kurt Jewell

On a board of AA8J and with around 140,000 in the middle, Kurt Jewell fired out a bet of 108,000 out of the big blind with Eduardo Amaral calling from early position.

The 5 came on the river, and both players checked. Jewell showed a complete airball with Q3, while Amaral showed A2 for trips to win the pot.
