Lamancusa Locks Up a Double

Level 2 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante

Joshua Lamancusa was sitting under the gun and was already looking at a J874 board. The pot stood at 19,000, and he was heads-up against Joshua Mammen, who was in the big blind.

Mammen check-called a shove by Lamancusa on the turn for his last 8,400, and the pair flipped their cards.

Joshua Mammen: AQ

Mammen was looking for the spade flush to come in on the river, but Lamancusa was hoping to hold with top pair.

A 5 was placed on the river, and Lamancusa held to lock up the double. The two Joshuas ended the hand on roughly the same chip count.

Bleznick's Main Event Comes to an Early End

Level 2 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante
Jared Bleznick
Jared Bleznick

Jared Bleznick raised to 1,000 on the button and was called by Alfredo Arreola in the small blind. Reginald Powell then squeezed to 3,000 from the big blind and Bleznick responded by making it 11,000 to go.

Arreola got out of the way, but Powell moved his entire stack into the middle, which was enough to put Bleznick all in for a bit under 50,000. Bleznick tanked a bit facing a decision for his tournament life, but eventually called all in for a showdown.

Reginald Powell: 1010

It was the right decision from Bleznick, who found himself in great shape to double up against Powell's tens.

The 69J flop was safe for Bleznick, but the 10 turn improved Powell to a set.

Bleznick was still drawing live with an open-ended straight draw, but the 4 river bricked out — eliminating Bleznick early on Day 1 on a bad beat.

"You've gotta have some luck!" Powell said as he collected the massive pot.

Royal Flush Gets Value

Level 2 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante

The hand was caught as Steven Merwin was scooping in a pot, and he was happy to share the action.

Karabet Keshishyan raised on the button, and Merwin called in the big blind.

The dealer spread a KA6 flop, and Merwin check-called a continuation bet from Keshishyan before the 10 checked through.

Merwin then led out for 6,000 on the 9 river, which Keshishyan called.

Keshishyan tabled his A7, but it was a long, long way behind the turned royal flush of Merwin, who flipped over QJ.
